Samara Weaving has quietly emerged as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after genre stars, effortlessly transitioning between horror, comedy, and now blockbuster franchises. Her journey from Australian soap opera to horror-comedy standout has made her a favorite among casting directors seeking a blend of charisma and edge.

Recently, Weaving’s momentum surged as she secured the role of Emma Frost in Marvel Studios’ upcoming ‘X-Men’ reboot, solidifying her place in one of the industry’s largest cinematic universes. This casting was seen as a pivotal moment, expected to dominate headlines for weeks.

Now, just as the excitement around that news begins to fade, a new report indicates that Weaving may be gearing up for another significant franchise role. According to industry insider DanielRPK, Weaving has reportedly been cast as Hylia in Nintendo and Sony’s highly anticipated live-action ‘Legend of Zelda’ film.

Details regarding Weaving’s casting are still limited, and neither Nintendo nor Sony Pictures has confirmed her role in the project. Earlier reports from other sources, including a separate insider known as The Beyond Reporter, hinted at Weaving joining the cast but did not specify which character she would portray.

The mention of Hylia specifically adds an intriguing layer for longtime fans of the franchise. In the games, Hylia is intricately linked to the mythology of Hyrule and the origins of the Triforce, making any live-action portrayal of the character a significant contribution to the film’s world-building.

Weaving’s rumored casting would add to an already impressive and expanding cast for the adaptation. Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth were confirmed months ago as Princess Zelda and Link, respectively, with Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto announcing the casting alongside the film’s May 7, 2027 release date.

Since then, the ensemble has continued to grow with genre-favorite talent. Uli Latukefu has been confirmed as the film’s main antagonist Ganondorf, while Dichen Lachman is set to portray Impa, Zelda’s bodyguard and advisor. Yvonne Strahovski has also joined in an undisclosed role connected to Hyrule’s royal family, and the late Sam Neill reportedly filmed a role for the project as well.

Weaving’s potential involvement aligns perfectly with her career, which is built on genre-defining performances. She first gained recognition with ‘Ready or Not,’ a horror-comedy that showcased her ability to be both humorous and genuinely unsettling, a talent that made her an ideal choice for Marvel’s Emma Frost.

Since then, she has continued to diversify her filmography, appearing in ‘Scream VI,’ the horror thriller ‘Azrael,’ and ‘Bill & Ted Face the Music,’ along with the recently released ‘Ready or Not 2: Here I Come.’ With Wes Ball, the director behind ‘The Maze Runner’ and ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,’ helming the Zelda adaptation, the project has already signaled ambitions to adopt a more serious, high-stakes tone rather than a straightforward family-friendly retelling.

If the report is confirmed, Weaving would be adding two major franchise roles to her resume in just a few weeks, an unusually rapid pace even by blockbuster casting standards. For now, fans will have to await official confirmation from Nintendo or Sony before fully embracing the news, but the pattern of insider reports surrounding her name suggests that something significant is likely developing behind the scenes.
