In a recent interview featured in Variety’s “Actors on Actors” Emmy edition, Sharon Stone expressed her strong admiration for HBO’s acclaimed series Euphoria, stating that she considers it one of the most significant shows on television today.

Stone shared her thoughts on what makes the show resonate with her, emphasizing its reflection of real-life challenges faced by young people. She described Euphoria as profoundly honest and emotionally impactful, particularly in its portrayal of teenagers grappling with addiction, trauma, and tough circumstances.

She remarked, “We’ve met these kids. We’ve seen them turn into young adults. We’ve seen them turn into full-on drug dealers. And I’ve gone through it in my family. My brother went to the biggest prison in New York. He got in the drug business. It kept going. I was like, ‘You have to get out. You have to let me pay off your vig.’ He was like, ‘It doesn’t work like that. You can’t pay it off.’”

Stone connected her personal experiences to the narratives depicted in Euphoria, noting that the show mirrors the real situations many families face behind closed doors. She praised the series for not shying away from difficult truths, which is a significant reason for its profound impact on her.

After watching the show’s first episode, Stone shared her emotional reaction, saying, “So when the first episode ended, I just sat there and cried. And then I read these reviews about how people wanted it to be this happy ending, and I’m like, ‘What you saw was so honest.’ ‘Euphoria’ is so relevant.”

Stone further asserted that the show should be utilized in educational settings due to its significant impact and realism. She stated, “I believe it should be shown in every high school, and I think all the parents should have to see it. As a mom, I love it.”

Her comments were made during a broader discussion with Keke Palmer about storytelling, youth culture, and how television mirrors real life. The two explored how contemporary shows often address topics like drugs, relationships, and mental health more directly than older formats.

Stone’s commendation places Euphoria among the most influential shows she has encountered, particularly in its depiction of young people without glossing over the repercussions of their actions. Her belief that it should be included in schools contributes to the ongoing public discourse regarding whether entertainment with mature themes can also serve an educational purpose.
