Marvel’s Canadian stars have become a cherished part of the MCU. Simu Liu made a significant impact as Shang-Chi, the franchise’s first Asian lead superhero, while Iman Vellani infused her role as Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, with the enthusiasm of a lifelong fan.

Both actors have expressed how surreal it feels to be part of a franchise they grew up loving. This shared experience has endeared them to fans, even though their characters have yet to share the screen in live action.

Recently, a new photo has sparked excitement among fans, showing Liu and Vellani together in a Marvel-themed setting, surrounded by comic covers and collectibles. Vellani is seen holding a small Ms. Marvel figure next to Liu, and the timing is particularly exciting as Marvel gears up for its next big chapter.

The playful snapshot captures Liu in a denim jacket, glancing off to the side, while Vellani peeks out from behind him with the action figure. The background features a Marvel encyclopedia and various collectibles, reflecting their shared passion for the franchise.

Although the photo isn’t tied to any official announcement, fans are buzzing with speculation. Whenever these two appear together, the response is always immediate.

Liu has previously mentioned that if he could collaborate with any MCU star, it would be Vellani, not only because they are both Canadian but also due to his admiration for her. He noted that their journeys in the Marvel universe have been quite similar, as both were fans before becoming part of it.

Currently, both actors find themselves at a pivotal moment in the franchise, with much anticipation surrounding their characters’ futures.

Liu’s path is clearer, as Shang-Chi is confirmed to appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, set to hit theaters on December 18. He has also stated that he will feature in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ in December 2027, with plans for a sequel to ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ following that.

Vellani’s role remains more uncertain. She was not included in the initially announced cast for ‘Doomsday’, and Marvel Studios has yet to confirm her return. However, speculation is rife. During an interview about the animated film ‘Animal Farm’, Andy Serkis expressed excitement about seeing her in ‘Doomsday’, to which Vellani humorously replied that he couldn’t say that.

Additionally, she has been given a more prominent role as the host of the 5-episode ‘Countdown to Avengers: Doomsday’ podcast alongside Frank Alvarez, which began airing on August 27. This hosting gig has only fueled questions about her potential appearance in the film.

The excitement surrounding Kamala’s character has been amplified since ‘The Marvels’, where she began recruiting a team of young heroes. Fans have long anticipated a ‘Young Avengers’ storyline, and insiders suggest that some members of this team might appear in ‘Doomsday’, with hints that Kamala has “a new fam now,” though nothing is confirmed.

If a team-up does materialize, it would fulfill Liu’s wish to see two of Marvel’s most passionate fans unite on screen. For now, this new photo serves as a delightful reminder of the goodwill surrounding both stars.
