Spanish Sci-Fi ‘Pacifico’ Reveals First Look as Fans Compare It to ‘Alien’
A first teaser has been unveiled for the Spanish-language sci-fi film Pacifico, drawing attention for its striking resemblance to classic alien-themed survival narratives. Presented by FilmSharks, the film is set to be showcased to international buyers at the Cannes Market.
The cast includes Gabi de Faria (Superman), Manolo Cardona (Narcos), Christopher Von Uckermann (Rebelde), Claudio Cataño (Cien años de soledad), Ricardo Abarca (Que Culpa Tiene el Niño), and Maria Nela Sinisterra (Corazon de Leon).
According to the official synopsis, Pacifico follows a group of young travelers who find themselves stranded on a remote island in the Pacific Ocean. Upon their arrival, they uncover a dangerous hidden force that has existed on Earth for ages, largely unknown to humanity.
Directed by Gonzalo Gutierrez and produced by Mauricio Brunetti and Guido Rud from the Buenos Aires-based FilmSharks, the film is touted as one of the company’s largest productions to date. Florencia Lemoine serves as the executive producer.
Guido Rud discussed the film’s ambition, stating it seeks to elevate Spanish-language science fiction into new realms.
“This is the biggest and most ambitious science fiction theatrical film ever made in Spanish, where we created a spaceship world and universe that naturally blends narrative layers,” Rud explained.
He emphasized that the film transcends mere alien encounters or monsters, delving into profound themes related to Earth’s history and unknown visitors.
“Pacifico is about so much more than Alien Space Ships and monsters: it’s about how we understand that this is an old planet with many hidden truths and untold stories of how visitors were more frequent than imagined. Top-tier buyers are pursuing this title, and we aim to announce many key territories shortly,” he added.
The teaser presents a tense survival scenario and hints at a broader sci-fi mystery surrounding the stranded group. With its isolated backdrop and unseen menace, many viewers have already noted similarities to iconic sci-fi survival films.
Pacifico is currently being prepared for international distribution, with more announcements anticipated following its Cannes Market presentation.
