‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Achieves $858 Million in 25 Days, Outpacing ‘Avengers: Endgame’
Marvel Studios has been striving to regain the box office dominance it enjoyed prior to the pandemic’s impact on moviegoing habits. Few films have shouldered that burden quite like the studio’s Avengers-sized blockbusters. For a significant period, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ served as the unyielding benchmark against which every Marvel release was evaluated.
However, that benchmark has faced intense scrutiny this summer. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ launched with enormous expectations following its record-setting opening weekend, and instead of experiencing the typical post-debut drop, the film has continued to achieve remarkable milestones week after week, surprising even the most experienced box office analysts.
Recent numbers reveal an even more striking narrative about the rapid pace of its success. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ reached an impressive $858 million at the domestic box office within just 25 days, according to MovieHub, in stark contrast to the 140 days it took ‘Avengers: Endgame’ to reach that same figure back in 2019. This difference highlights the unique ways these two Marvel blockbusters attracted their audiences over time.
While ‘Endgame’ achieved its $858.3 million domestic total at the conclusion of its theatrical run, ‘Brand New Day’ reached that milestone as a mid-run achievement, continuing to add tens of millions of dollars to its total each weekend.
This rapid success has already transformed the all-time domestic box office rankings. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s’ North American total now stands third all-time, only behind ‘Avengers: Endgame’s’ $858.3 million and ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ domestic record of $936.6 million. It is currently tracking about $40 million ahead of where ‘The Force Awakens’ was at the same point in its theatrical journey.
The film’s opening weekend set a powerful precedent, debuting at $360 million domestically, officially surpassing ‘Avengers: Endgame’s’ previous opening record of $357.1 million, according to Deadline. Additionally, it became the fastest film to reach $500 million domestically, achieving that milestone in just seven days compared to Endgame’s eight.

On a global scale, the film has also climbed the all-time rankings, recently surpassing ‘The Force Awakens’ to become the sixth-highest-grossing film in cinema history with a worldwide total of $2.22 billion. Featuring Tom Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo, the Destin Daniel Cretton-directed film has established itself as a genuine phenomenon, not just a strong opener.
While ‘Endgame’ still holds a significant lead globally, with its lifetime total sitting at $2.799 billion compared to ‘Brand New Day’s’ $2.22 billion, the gap reflects how much stronger the 2019 Avengers finale performed internationally. Domestically, however, the narrative increasingly belongs to Spider-Man.
With Marvel’s upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ set to be the studio’s next major test this December, fans are left wondering whether that film can match or surpass what ‘Brand New Day’ has achieved, or if Spider-Man has truly solidified his status as the MCU’s biggest individual draw.
