‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Achieves Historic Milestone But One Record Remains Out of Reach
Marvel and Sony’s latest web-slinging adventure has been breaking blockbuster milestones at an impressive rate this year. Despite increasing competition in theaters, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ continues to accumulate numbers that place it among the all-time cinematic heavyweights.
While recent rival releases have made attempts to challenge its dominance, the remarkable achievements of this film overshadow any temporary shifts in the box office rankings. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has now surpassed $2.4 billion globally, with $1.485 billion from international markets and $917.8 million from domestic audiences as of Sunday. This impressive total makes it the third-highest-grossing movie of all time, following ‘Avatar’ at $2.9 billion and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ at $2.799 billion.
Deadline reports that the film’s domestic earnings are expected to rise to $923 million by Monday, maintaining its steady ascent up the all-time charts, even as its winning streak faced its first significant interruption in over a month. This milestone places ‘Brand New Day’ in an elite category at the worldwide box office.
The film is also on the verge of breaking a major North American record. According to Deadline, ‘Brand New Day’ is just $13.66 million away from surpassing Disney and Lucasfilm’s ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and its $936.66 million total, potentially becoming the highest-grossing movie ever released domestically.
This record appears well within reach given the film’s ongoing momentum. However, Deadline notes that catching ‘Avengers: Endgame’ at the global box office remains a significant challenge, as the gap between the two films is still substantial. Endgame’s $2.799 billion worldwide total remains comfortably out of reach for the foreseeable future.
Nonetheless, ‘Brand New Day’ has already rewritten numerous box office records. According to Screen Daily, it became the biggest ‘Spider-Man’ film of all time earlier in its run, surpassing 2021’s ‘No Way Home’ and its $1.92 billion total, while also ranking as the third-biggest MCU release ever, behind only ‘Endgame’ and ‘Infinity War’.

The film reached the $2 billion mark worldwide after just 19 days in theaters, according to Screen Daily, making it the second-fastest film to achieve this milestone, behind only ‘Avengers: Endgame’. This rapid pace highlights the strong audience turnout for Tom Holland’s latest portrayal of the iconic wall-crawler.
Competition from Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ has introduced an unexpected twist to the film’s dominance in recent days. Nolan’s epic briefly surpassed ‘Brand New Day’ on both the daily domestic chart and the global weekend chart for the first time since Spider-Man’s debut on July 31, according to Screen Rant. However, ‘Brand New Day’s’ overall total remains significantly ahead of any single competitor at this stage of its run.
With the domestic record now within reach and its worldwide total continuing to rise, ‘Brand New Day’ is shaping up to be one of the defining box office stories of the year, regardless of which title claims victory on any given weekend.
