‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Breaks Box Office Records as Fastest to $800 Million
Box office records have been tumbling almost weekly since Marvel and Sony’s latest Spider-Man film hit theaters, with milestones arriving at a pace few films have ever matched. What began as a record-breaking opening weekend has quickly evolved into one of the most impressive theatrical runs in recent memory.
This dominance shows no signs of slowing down as it heads into its fourth weekend. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has been steadily climbing the all-time domestic charts, turning nearly every box office update into fresh headline material.
The latest milestone was confirmed this week by Sony, revealing that the film has officially crossed $800 million domestically after just 19 days in theaters. This achievement makes it the fastest movie in history to reach that mark and only the fourth film ever to do so. It surpasses the previous record holder, 2015’s ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ by four full days, a benchmark that had remained unbroken for over a decade.
‘Brand New Day’ now joins an elite group of domestic box office earners. ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ holds the all-time domestic record at $936.6 million, followed by 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ at $858.3 million and 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ at $814.7 million. The latter film required nearly one hundred days to reach the $800 million milestone.
This comparison underscores the uniqueness of ‘Brand New Day’s’ run. While ‘No Way Home’ benefited from the entire holiday corridor, with weeks of closed schools and family-friendly matinees aiding its gradual climb, ‘Brand New Day’ achieved its milestone during a period that included back-to-school weekends and no holiday boost, making its rapid success even more remarkable.

The domestic success is mirrored, and arguably surpassed, by the film’s international performance. With $2.04 billion earned worldwide, ‘Brand New Day’ has become the sixth highest-grossing movie in history, trailing only 2009’s ‘Avatar’ at $2.9 billion, 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ at $2.7 billion, 2022’s ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ at $2.3 billion, and 1994’s ‘Titanic’ at $2.2 billion.
This global total also positions ‘Brand New Day’ as the highest-grossing Spider-Man film ever, surpassing ‘No Way Home’s’ $1.92 billion worldwide total and marking Sony’s biggest release in studio history. The film crossed the billion-dollar mark globally in just six days, the second-fastest pace ever recorded, only behind ‘Avengers: Endgame.’
With momentum still building, ‘Brand New Day’ is projected to reach the No. 3 all-time domestic spot within days and could realistically challenge ‘Endgame’s’ $858.3 million total before its theatrical run concludes. To reach the top spot currently held by ‘The Force Awakens,’ it would need approximately $133 million more in ticket sales, a target that remains within reach given its consistent performance week after week.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and featuring Tom Holland alongside Zendaya, Sadie Sink, and Jon Bernthal, the film is heading into its fourth weekend while still holding the No. 1 spot at the box office, successfully fending off newcomer ‘Insidious: Out of the Further.’ Given how consistently it has outperformed expectations at every checkpoint, few industry observers are betting against another record falling soon.
As ‘Brand New Day’ continues to dominate the charts well into its third full week of release, the question now isn’t whether more milestones are on the way, but how many.
