‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Surpasses Two Marvel Films at the Domestic Box Office
Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing as Spider-Man has been rewriting box office records since its debut earlier this month. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has steadily climbed the all-time domestic rankings, now surpassing two films that once seemed unassailable within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film’s opening weekend set the stage for its success, raking in an astonishing $360 million from North American theaters. This achievement not only marked the biggest domestic opening weekend ever but also eclipsed ‘Avengers: Endgame’s previous record of $357.1 million. With this launch, ‘Brand New Day’ has outperformed every Marvel movie in history, except for a select few major crossover events.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has now overtaken both ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ at the domestic box office, becoming the fastest film to reach $400 million in North America in just four days. ‘Wakanda Forever’ concluded its run with $453,829,060 domestically, while ‘Age of Ultron’ finished at $459,005,868, meaning ‘Brand New Day’ surpassed both totals in under a week, a feat that took those films several months.
The film’s record-breaking momentum has continued since its opening weekend. ‘Brand New Day’ achieved the highest-grossing Monday in box office history with $47 million, breaking the previous record held by 2018’s ‘Black Panther’ at $40 million. It followed this with the biggest Tuesday ever at the domestic box office, earning $42 million, surpassing ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’s prior record of $39 million.
Just six days after its release, the film crossed $1 billion worldwide, making it the second-fastest movie to reach that milestone, following ‘Avengers: Endgame’, which achieved it in five days back in 2019. This combination of speed and scale has already positioned ‘Brand New Day’ as the highest-grossing movie of 2026 worldwide, a title it claimed in just seven days.

By surpassing ‘Wakanda Forever’ and ‘Age of Ultron’ domestically, ‘Brand New Day’ has firmly established itself among the top tier of Marvel’s all-time domestic earners, a group previously dominated by the studio’s major ensemble Avengers films. Both previous films were considered respectable mid-tier entries in the MCU, with ‘Age of Ultron’ finishing as the sixth-highest grossing Marvel movie domestically and ‘Wakanda Forever’ just behind it.
For a standalone Spider-Man film to surpass both movies within its first week highlights the cultural significance this moment holds for the franchise. Sony’s motion picture group chair Tom Rothman celebrated the film’s historic run in a statement after its opening weekend, reflecting on the scale of its accomplishments before its numbers continued to rise.
With the film’s total still climbing daily and no major competition in sight, ‘Brand New Day’ appears set to keep rewriting Marvel’s box office records well into its second and third weekends.
