Stars Arrive as TCL Chinese Theatre Transforms for ‘Masters of the Universe’ Premiere
The world premiere of Masters of the Universe turned Hollywood into a scene reminiscent of Eternia. The iconic TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles was completely transformed into Castle Grayskull for the event, featuring a themed red carpet that perfectly matched the film’s fantasy world.
Taking place on May 18, the premiere preceded the movie’s theatrical release on June 5. The event gathered the cast, filmmakers, and special guests, with fans and photographers lining the red carpet to capture the star-studded arrivals.
Notable attendees included director Travis Knight and cast members Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, Alison Brie, and original He-Man actor Dolph Lundgren. Camila Mendes particularly stood out, drawing attention for her striking appearance as she posed for photos and participated in interviews alongside her co-stars.
Images and footage from the premiere showcased the impressive transformation, with the theatre adorned to resemble Castle Grayskull, the legendary fortress from the Masters of the Universe universe. This thematic design aligned with the film’s tone, blending sword-and-sorcery action with a contemporary blockbuster flair.
According to studio production details and event coverage, Masters of the Universe is helmed by Travis Knight and penned by Chris Butler, Aaron and Adam Nee, and David Callaham. This film is a new live-action adaptation based on the long-standing Mattel franchise, following the original 1987 film.
The narrative centers on Prince Adam, portrayed by Nicholas Galitzine, who returns to Eternia after an extended absence. He finds his homeland in ruins and under Skeletor’s control, played by Jared Leto. To rescue his world, he must embrace his destiny as He-Man and ally with characters like Teela, played by Camila Mendes, and Man-At-Arms, portrayed by Idris Elba.
The supporting cast features Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, James Purefoy as King Randor, among others, who take on iconic roles from the franchise.
Promotional materials indicate that the filmmakers aim to expand the Eternia universe while remaining true to its roots as a classic fantasy adventure.
With its grand premiere and impressive visual presentation, the event set the stage for what the studio hopes will be one of the year’s most significant fantasy releases.
