New Year’s Eve episodes often bring a whirlwind of emotions to ensemble shows, and ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 embraces this tradition in its sixth episode. The episode features the cast divided across three different parties as they count down to midnight.

Titled “Don’t Jump Around Much Anymore,” this episode premiered on Apple TV+ on September 9 and continues the storylines from the previous episode. The Lady Greyhounds attend a boat party hosted by the quirky Zelda to attract potential investors, while Keeley, Roy, and Rebecca celebrate separately at Jamie Tartt’s vodka launch. Meanwhile, Ted enjoys a quiet evening with his son Henry and ex-wife Michelle.

However, it’s during this quiet split that the episode delivers its biggest shock. After a mishap on the dance floor, Roy finds himself in the hospital, where a drugged and disoriented moment leads him to confess his true feelings, impacting two of his relationships with a single statement.

At Jamie’s party, Roy arrives solo, which makes Keeley happy even as she grapples with his moving on. Just as he prepares to leave to meet his new love interest, Dr. Erin Beaumont, the song “Jump Around” plays, drawing both Roy and Jamie to the dance floor. In the midst of the excitement, Roy injures his knee, prompting the group to rush him to the hospital.

At the hospital, Keeley meets Erin for the first time. Despite feeling jealous, she acknowledges that Erin seems smart, kind, and genuinely suited for Roy. She leaves feeling reassured about his care. However, when Erin checks on Roy, he greets her warmly but then inadvertently blurts out, “I love you, Keeley,” confirming Erin’s fears about where his heart truly lies.

While Roy’s situation unfolds, the rest of the Lady Greyhounds are at Zelda’s increasingly strange boat party, where she introduces them to her eccentric best friend, Hugo. Alice Chilton, still reeling from her recent suspension, nearly skips the party while fretting over her outfit at home with her girlfriend.

When Alice finally arrives, Zelda introduces the coaches but pointedly omits Alice, leaving her feeling insecure. Gemma notices and pulls her aside, where Alice apologizes for her past behavior. Gemma reassures her that the team genuinely cares for her, but the moment of warmth becomes complicated when Zelda starts handing out masks, leading the group to make their exit instead.

Back at Jamie’s party, Rebecca is convinced that her argument with Matthijs has ruined their relationship, especially after losing access to his location. Jamie steps in to comfort her with surprisingly wise words, and as midnight approaches, he leans in for a kiss. Just before it happens, Rebecca receives a text: Matthijs has arrived in person, having turned off his location sharing to surprise her. They reunite and share their kiss right at the stroke of midnight.

Ted spends the night at Mae’s pub with Michelle and Henry, where a heartfelt conversation reveals that the divorce has weighed heavily on Michelle. When Ted’s team, previously banned from the pub after a fight, shows up outside, Michelle encourages him to join them. He crosses over just before midnight to ring in the New Year with his players.

Ted tells Alice he hopes to see her back at work soon, hinting that her suspension may soon end. However, the episode’s final moment focuses on Alice again, as Lizzie tells her the team loves her, revealing that Gemma spoke to the group about her. Despite Gemma’s intentions to help, Alice leaves upset, leaving her storyline unresolved as the season progresses.
