Few comfort shows have made as significant an impact as ‘Ted Lasso,’ the Emmy-winning comedy that catapulted Jason Sudeikis into stardom and provided viewers with a much-needed dose of optimism during challenging times. When Season 3 concluded in 2023, many fans believed the story of AFC Richmond had reached its conclusion. However, more than three years later, that assumption has been proven incorrect.

Earlier this year, Apple TV confirmed that ‘Ted Lasso’ would return for a fourth season, with Sudeikis reprising his role as both star and executive producer, alongside a mix of familiar faces and new cast members. Since the announcement, the streaming service has gradually released teasers, premiere details, and behind-the-scenes glimpses, keeping fans engaged during the lengthy wait between seasons.

Apple has now unveiled a brand new photo from the upcoming season, featuring a lively group of cheering fans watching from the sidelines, which has once again sparked excitement among fans ahead of the show’s return. This image aligns with the confirmation that Season 4 will officially premiere on August 5, providing fans with a date to mark on their calendars after years of uncertainty about the show’s future.

The premiere date kicks off a ten-episode season, with new episodes releasing weekly every Wednesday until October 7. This season signifies a notable shift in the show’s direction, as Ted faces what has been described as the biggest challenge of his career: coaching a second division women’s football team instead of returning to AFC Richmond’s men’s squad.

Season 4 will also see the return of much of the beloved cast that contributed to the show’s global success. Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift will reprise their roles as Rebecca Welton, Keeley Jones, Roy Kent, Coach Beard, and Leslie Higgins, respectively, alongside Sudeikis.

New cast members include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, and Abbie Hern, all taking on undisclosed roles for the new season. Grant Feely has also joined the cast as Ted’s son Henry, succeeding Gus Turner, who portrayed the character in the first three seasons.

However, not every familiar face is set to return. Phil Dunster, who played standout AFC Richmond player Jamie Tartt, has reportedly stepped back from his role as a series regular due to a scheduling conflict, marking a notable absence as the new season approaches.

Apple TV’s Head of Programming, Matt Cherniss, has shared insights on what the show has meant to audiences since its inception, describing ‘Ted Lasso’ as a juggernaut that has inspired a passionate global fanbase while promoting kindness, compassion, and unwavering belief. This sentiment encapsulates much of the excitement surrounding the show’s return, even years after fans thought the story had concluded.

Filming for the new season began in Sudeikis’s hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, before moving to London, providing the show with a fresh backdrop. Early promotional images have showcased Ted reconnecting with Rebecca in front of the Richmond jet, along with scenes of him coaching his new team and reuniting with Henry at a familiar London pub.

With the premiere now just weeks away, this latest photo serves as a reminder that ‘Ted Lasso’ is indeed making a comeback, and fans are eagerly anticipating their return to Richmond.
