‘The Agency’ Season 2 Trailer Released as Michael Fassbender’s Spy Thriller Returns to Paramount+
Paramount+ has unveiled the first trailer for The Agency Season 2, marking the return of Michael Fassbender to the thrilling world of espionage. The new footage also confirms the release date for the highly anticipated season, offering fans a glimpse of what lies ahead for the spy drama.
As reported by Paramount+, The Agency is set to return following a successful debut in 2024, where it garnered positive reviews and was swiftly renewed for a second season. The series follows Fassbender as CIA operative Brandon “Martian” Colby, a deep-cover agent whose personal and professional lives intertwine after a relationship with a political prisoner in Sudan leads him into a series of perilous situations. This series is a reimagining of the French spy drama Le Bureau des Légendes.
The official synopsis for Season 2 hints at a darker and more unstable environment for the characters. It states, “Betrayed, compromised, and haunted by the woman he couldn’t save, CIA agent Martian’s world unravels as a mole hunt plunges London Station into chaos. As loyalties fracture, the truth becomes a weapon – and Martian’s only way out is deeper in.”
The trailer depicts Martian under increasing pressure as he confesses to betraying his country, yet he shows no remorse for his actions. The footage alternates between tense interrogations, shifting alliances, and high-octane action sequences. A significant focus is on the internal investigation within the agency, where a mole hunt places Martian directly under suspicion.
Alongside Fassbender, the series boasts a large ensemble cast, including Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith, Richard Gere, Katherine Waterston, and Harriet Sansom Harris, among others. New guest appearances in the upcoming season feature Dominic West and Hugh Bonneville, further enhancing the already star-studded lineup.
The series is written and executive produced by Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth. Production also includes executive producers from 101 Studios, Smokehouse Pictures, and Federation Studios, along with Michael Fassbender himself. Several prominent industry figures are involved in the project, highlighting its high-profile status within Paramount+’s offerings.
The Agency Season 2 will feature 10 episodes, all available on Paramount+ starting June 21, 2026. The trailer sets the stage for a more intense and personal season, with trust eroding within the CIA and Martian caught at the heart of it all.
