Production has officially kicked off on ‘The Batman: Part II’, with exciting new details and leaked set photos offering fans an early glimpse into the return to Gotham. Spotters and videos shared online from Liverpool, England, confirm that filming has commenced, with the city once again serving as the backdrop for Gotham.

Initial footage reveals production crews setting up camera equipment and vehicles adorned with the film’s iconic red bat logo. One clip features a GCPD police car with snow covering the windshield and bumper, hinting at a cold-weather scene being filmed. Another video showcases Robert Pattinson’s stunt double, Rick English, performing on top of a moving police car during an action sequence shot in the Birkenhead Tunnel.

Directed by Matt Reeves, who co-wrote the script with Mattson Tomlin, the sequel’s principal photography was initially set to begin earlier but faced delays due to script revisions, which were finalized in June 2025. Filming locations are planned across Liverpool, Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, and Glasgow.

Returning to reprise their roles are Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Oswald “Penguin” Cobblepot, and Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál. Barry Keoghan is also expected to return as the Joker.

New cast members include Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent and Scarlett Johansson as Gilda Dent, with Charles Dance portraying Charles Dent. Additional roles will feature Gil Perez-Abraham as GCPD officer Martinez, alongside Sebastian Koch and Brian Tyree Henry in undisclosed parts.

‘The Batman: Part II’ is slated for release in theaters on October 1, 2027. The narrative will continue to delve into Gotham’s corruption and Batman’s dual existence as Bruce Wayne, following the events of ‘The Batman’ and ‘The Penguin’ series.
