The next chapter in the ‘Conjuring’ Universe is officially progressing, and fans are excited to learn who will portray the younger versions of Ed and Lorraine Warren.

As production kicks off on ‘The Conjuring: First Communion’, the first significant casting details for the upcoming horror prequel have been disclosed.

According to an exclusive report from Dread Central, Garrett Wareing has been cast as a young Ed Warren, while Amanda Fix will take on the role of a young Lorraine Warren. This film will transport audiences back to the early days of the renowned paranormal investigators, long before the events depicted in the main ‘Conjuring’ films.

Wareing is recognized for his performances in ‘The Long Walk’ and ‘Manifest’, while Fix has appeared in ‘Orphan Black: Echoes’ and ‘Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma’. Their casting represents the first official glimpse of the new generation of actors joining one of horror’s most prominent franchises.

Currently, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema have not confirmed if Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will reprise their roles as the older Ed and Lorraine Warren. The duo has portrayed the iconic paranormal investigators since the original ‘Conjuring’ debuted in 2013, becoming the faces of the franchise over the last decade. It remains uncertain if they will make an appearance in the prequel.

Currently, details about the story for ‘The Conjuring: First Communion’ are still under wraps. The film will be directed by Rodrigue Huart, with a screenplay penned by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg. Aside from the title and the new cast, very little has been disclosed regarding the movie’s exploration or which supernatural case might be central to the plot.

Despite the lack of plot specifics, the project has already sparked excitement as it expands a franchise that has been thriving for over a decade. What began with ‘The Conjuring’ in 2013 has evolved into one of the most successful horror universes ever created.

The series now encompasses ‘The Conjuring’, ‘Annabelle’, ‘The Conjuring 2’, ‘Annabelle: Creation’, ‘The Nun’, ‘The Curse of La Llorona’, ‘Annabelle Comes Home’, ‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It’, ‘The Nun II’, and ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’. Most of these films are interconnected through the Warrens or the supernatural cases they investigated, while others delve into different aspects of the same shared universe.

With ‘The Conjuring: First Communion’ joining the lineup, the franchise is set to expand even further. The new film is expected to delve into an earlier period of Ed and Lorraine Warren’s lives, providing fans with a glimpse of how their partnership began before they became renowned demonologists.

Additionally, the ‘Conjuring’ Universe has another project in the pipeline. Warner Bros. has already slated ‘The Revenge of La Llorona’, a sequel to ‘The Curse of La Llorona’, for release on April 9, 2027. This means horror enthusiasts can look forward to two films from the shared universe in the same year.

‘The Conjuring: First Communion’ is currently set to hit theaters on September 10, 2027. With filming now underway and its lead actors officially announced, the movie has made significant progress. More casting news and story details are anticipated to emerge as production continues in the coming months.
