‘The Odyssey’ Display at Universal Studios Hollywood Features Iconic Trojan Horse
Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated film The Odyssey is already making waves ahead of its theatrical release on July 17. Filmed in stunning locations like Greece, Italy, Morocco, Scotland, and Iceland, part of the production took place at Universal Studios Hollywood, which is now transforming those filming ties into an engaging public experience.
As per announcements from Universal Studios Hollywood and social media updates from visitors, props from the film are now showcased as part of the Studio Tour and surrounding areas. A significant addition to the tour route is a large ship featured in the movie, allowing park guests an up-close look at one of the film’s pivotal set pieces.
The experience also includes brief behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the filmmakers, displayed on monitors during the tram ride. This offers visitors a sneak peek into the creation of some of the film’s spectacular water scenes.
One of the most exciting additions is a 34-foot-tall Trojan Horse that will be prominently displayed at Universal CityWalk Hollywood. This impressive structure is set to stand in front of the Universal Cinema AMC theater starting in July, providing fans with a tangible connection to the film’s universe even before its debut.
The production utilized Universal’s renowned water filming facility, Falls Lake. This expansive outdoor water tank has been a staple for simulating ocean environments in major Hollywood films for decades, featuring in classics like Jaws, The Truman Show, Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, and Inception.
For The Odyssey, director Christopher Nolan employed this space to film large-scale water sequences that required controlled conditions while still resembling open sea environments. The blend of practical effects and real water setups has been a hallmark of many of Nolan’s previous films, and this project continues that legacy.
Universal Studios Hollywood has a rich history of transforming film productions into visitor attractions, and this latest installation is no exception. By incorporating actual props from The Odyssey into the park and nearby entertainment areas, the studio is seamlessly merging film production with theme park experiences.
The Trojan Horse display and the ship featured on the Studio Tour are expected to remain throughout the summer, providing fans with various ways to engage with the film prior to its arrival in theaters. This addition also underscores how large-scale movie productions increasingly utilize theme park spaces, not only as filming locations but also as promotional extensions of the film’s universe.
With its diverse filming locations, impressive practical sets, and now public displays at Universal Studios Hollywood, The Odyssey is generating considerable buzz ahead of its release. As noted by Universal Studios Hollywood and confirmed through visitor posts on social media, the film’s presence in the park is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about summer attractions linked to any upcoming blockbuster.
