‘The Office’ Cast Celebrates Greg Daniels at Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony
Greg Daniels has dedicated decades to shaping some of the most cherished comedies on American television, quietly crafting a résumé that includes ‘King of the Hill,’ ‘Parks and Recreation,’ and the series that made him a household name behind the camera. His influence is evident in an era of TV comedy that continues to dominate streaming platforms today.
This week, Daniels received permanent recognition for his contributions when the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored him with the 2,856th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony took place on Thursday at 6357 Hollywood Boulevard, placing Daniels in the Television category alongside other recent honorees like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Gordon Ramsay.
The event featured an emotional reunion, as the cast of ‘The Office’ gathered to celebrate the man who adapted the British mockumentary format into one of NBC’s biggest hits. Longtime friend and writing partner Conan O’Brien, along with ‘Office’ star Steve Carell, took the stage as featured speakers, while entertainment journalist Marc Malkin emceed the ceremony.
Daniels and O’Brien’s friendship dates back to their time at Harvard University, where they both contributed to the undergraduate humor publication The Harvard Lampoon. Their creative partnership continued beyond college, with the duo later collaborating on “Not Necessarily The News” and “Saturday Night Live.”
This long-standing friendship made O’Brien a fitting choice to help commemorate the milestone, as he and Carell reflected on Daniels’ influence on their careers and the television landscape as a whole. Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez also spoke at the event, acknowledging Daniels’ extraordinary impact on popular culture through storytelling that resonates with audiences worldwide.
While ‘The Office’ is the project most closely linked to Daniels, his career began years earlier as a writer on “The Simpsons,” where he later teamed up with Mike Judge to create “King of the Hill.” He went on to co-create “Parks and Recreation” with Michael Schur, who received his own Walk of Fame star in May 2025.
The timing of Daniels’ honor coincided with his current work, arriving just one day after the second season of “The Paper” premiered on Peacock. This newer series follows a similar documentary-style format as “The Office,” focusing on the staff of a struggling newspaper in Toledo, Ohio, giving Daniels an active project to highlight as he celebrated his past achievements.

Photos and social media posts from the ceremony captured a warm, celebratory atmosphere, with attendees gathering around Daniels’ newly unveiled star for group photos throughout the event. The reunion energy showcased the strong connections the “Office” cast and crew have maintained since the show concluded its nine-season run.
This closeness has been evident in recent years, with cast members reuniting on podcasts and appearing together at award shows and other industry events. Daniels’ star ceremony added another chapter to that ongoing story, uniting collaborators from various points in his career under one roof.
For a creator who has spent most of his career behind the scenes, this public celebration marked a rare moment of direct recognition for Daniels’ decades of influence on television comedy. With the Walk of Fame honor and “The Paper” continuing to establish its own identity on Peacock, it’s clear that Daniels’ creative legacy is far from over.
