‘The Testament of Ann Lee’ Star Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski Announce Split
Amanda Seyfried has established herself as one of Hollywood’s most reliable actresses over the past two decades, seamlessly transitioning between blockbuster musicals, acclaimed limited series, and poignant indie dramas. Throughout her career, her marriage to actor Thomas Sadoski has been regarded as one of the more stable relationships in the industry, largely avoiding the tabloid frenzy that often surrounds celebrity couples.
Their relationship dates back to 2015 when Seyfried and Sadoski first met while co-starring in the off-Broadway play ‘The Way We Get By.’ They later reunited that same year as love interests in the film ‘The Last Word,’ and their romance became public in early 2016, culminating in a quiet marriage in March 2017.
Now, after nine years of marriage, Seyfried and Sadoski have announced their separation. The couple confirmed the news in a joint statement to People, revealing that they had been separated for some time and felt the decision was right for their family, adding that they’ve “got each other forever—and it’s GOOD.”
The positive tone of their announcement reflects how they have generally approached their public relationship, emphasizing warmth and mutual support over drama. Seyfried expressed her gratitude to Sadoski during her 2022 Emmy acceptance speech after winning Outstanding Lead Actress for ‘The Dropout,’ and as recently as January, she acknowledged his sacrifices to support her career.
The couple shares two children: a daughter born shortly after their wedding in 2017 and a son born in 2020. Their daughter is currently nine years old, while their son is about to turn six.
Both Seyfried and Sadoski have remained active in their careers since their marriage. Sadoski is recognized for his role as Don Keefer on HBO’s ‘The Newsroom’ and as Matt Short on the CBS sitcom ‘Life in Pieces,’ while also serving on the board of the nonprofit INARA, which assists children affected by conflict in accessing medical care. Seyfried, on the other hand, has had a particularly busy year, starring in ‘The Testament of Ann Lee,’ ‘The Housemaid,’ and the miniseries ‘Long Bright River.’
Seyfried first gained fame at the age of fifteen, starting with soap operas before achieving breakout success as Karen Smith in ‘Mean Girls’ in 2004. She has since led major films like ‘Mamma Mia!,’ ‘Dear John,’ and ‘In Time,’ building a remarkable body of work that has grossed billions worldwide and earned her a spot on Time’s 100 most influential people list.
As is common with celebrity separations, their statement leaves many questions unanswered, including the reasons behind their decision after nearly a decade of marriage. However, it is evident that both Seyfried and Sadoski are committed to framing their split with the same warmth that has characterized their public relationship.
