Tom Hiddleston has shared insights about the challenges of keeping secrets for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and how this experience differs from his past roles in Marvel Studios films.

The actor, renowned for his portrayal of Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, addressed this topic in a recent interview with ScreenRant.

Hiddleston noted that the secrecy surrounding the film has been quite intense, yet he found it somewhat easier this time. He expressed relief at being able to acknowledge his participation in the project, stating, “I was just so relieved when I saw my name on a back of a chair … This has been a little gentler, because I can say that I’m in it.”

While he is unable to disclose significant plot details, Hiddleston expressed enthusiasm for the script. He previously praised the film’s direction, suggesting it will be a pivotal entry in the franchise.

He remarked, “Avengers: Doomsday is going to be magnificent and will defy all your expectations.” He further mentioned that the script surprised him upon his first reading, stating, “It defied mine when I read the film. I thought, ‘This is going to be extraordinary.’”

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to feature the return of several key characters from the Marvel universe. Notably, Loki is expected to reunite with the Avengers, including his brother Thor, portrayed by Chris Hemsworth. This marks their first significant reunion in the main MCU storyline in several years.

Hiddleston’s return as Loki has garnered attention due to the character’s intricate history. Initially, Loki was one of the Avengers’ earliest adversaries, frequently clashing with Earth’s heroes, particularly Thor. Over time, he evolved into a more nuanced character, especially through the ‘Loki’ Disney+ series, which delved into themes of identity, free will, and redemption.

The series provided Loki with a more complete emotional journey and a sense of closure that many fans believed was final. However, his return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ raises questions about how he will fit into the broader multiverse storyline and whether his character development will continue or face new challenges.

The film is being positioned as one of the largest crossover events in MCU history. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, with a screenplay by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, the story is anticipated to unite various groups, including the Avengers, Wakandans, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men characters from different universes.

Robert Downey Jr. is set to appear in a new role as Doctor Doom, marking a significant shift for the actor within the franchise. This film is part of Marvel’s Phase Six and continues the multiverse storyline that connects several recent projects.

Filming for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ took place in 2025 at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom, along with additional scenes shot in Bahrain and other locations. The movie is currently slated for release in December.

With Hiddleston hinting at a compelling script and a significant emotional return for Loki, expectations for the film continue to rise. His remarks suggest that even veteran Marvel actors were taken aback by the story’s direction, keeping anticipation high ahead of its release.
