Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Battles Hulk in New ‘Brand New Day’ Trailer
Sony Pictures has unveiled a new trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ offering fans an exciting glimpse of Tom Holland’s return as Peter Parker. The trailer highlights the significant challenges the young hero will face when the film hits theaters.
This latest Marvel and Sony installment continues the narrative following the events of 2021’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the story unfolds four years after Peter Parker made the heart-wrenching choice to erase himself from the memories of those he loves. Now, he finds himself isolated, striving to protect New York City while keeping his true identity a secret.
Peter has committed himself to being Spider-Man, but the relentless pressure of fighting crime begins to take a toll on him in unforeseen ways. His powers start to change, presenting new dangers as he investigates a series of mysterious crimes linked to a formidable new adversary.
The new trailer depicts Peter grappling with his responsibilities as Spider-Man while confronting the repercussions of his past decisions. It also hints at an epic showdown with Hulk, showcasing Peter’s struggle as his powers continue to evolve.
In addition to Holland reprising his role as Spider-Man, several familiar faces will return for this new adventure. Zendaya is back as MJ, and Jacob Batalon returns as Ned Leeds. The cast also features Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, and Michael Mando.
The film will introduce new characters portrayed by Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Marvin Jones III.
One of the most poignant moments teased so far involves Peter witnessing MJ moving on with her life after forgetting him. Footage revealed during CinemaCon shows MJ with a new love interest, compelling Peter to confront the reality that he may no longer have a place in her life.
Despite the hurdles ahead for the character, anticipation for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ remains incredibly high. The previous trailer achieved remarkable success online, reportedly becoming the first movie trailer to reach one billion views, hitting that milestone just four days post-release after garnering over 718 million views within the first 24 hours.
Sony chairman Tom Rothman praised the upcoming film during CinemaCon, noting that it feels distinct from earlier Spider-Man films while still delivering the excitement fans expect.
“It’s as big as anything we’ve ever made, and yet it feels like nothing we’ve ever made,” Rothman stated. “And it has Tom Holland — and I can say this because I’ve seen the movie — in his finest performance.”
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ was penned by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, with Justin Kuritzkes also contributing to the script. The project is produced by Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige.
The movie is set to premiere in theaters on July 31, marking the next significant chapter for Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Peter Parker facing new foes, evolving powers, and a dramatically altered life, the film promises to take the character in an exciting new direction.
