White Lotus star Aimee Lou Wood is speaking out after a recent Saturday Night Live sketch made fun of her character from the hit HBO show — and she’s not happy about it.

The sketch aired during the latest SNL episode and was titled “The White POTUS.” It was a parody that mixed characters from The White Lotus with real political figures like Donald Trump and his family. But one part of the sketch stood out to Aimee Lou Wood — and not in a good way.

In the skit, SNL cast member Sarah Sherman played a character clearly meant to be Chelsea, Wood’s character from season 3 of The White Lotus.

Sherman wore a huge set of fake teeth and exaggerated facial expressions. She was also paired with Jon Hamm, who played Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dressed like Chelsea’s on-screen boyfriend Rick, originally played by Walton Goggins.

“I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny,” Wood said in a series of posts on her Instagram Stories. “Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago.

She added, “Yes, take the piss for sure — that’s what the show is about — but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?

Wood also commented on the accent Sherman tried to do, which was meant to copy Chelsea’s Mancunian (Manchester) accent. “At least get the accent right seriously,” she said. “I respect accuracy even if it’s mean.

In the sketch, Hamm’s RFK Jr. says, “I’ve been having these insane ideas, like what if we took all the fluoride out of the drinking water? What would that do to people’s teeth?” Sherman’s character replies with a confused look, “Fluoride? What’s that?” while showing off large fake teeth and opening her eyes wide.

Fans quickly supported Wood. One fan message that she reposted said, “Everyone else in that parody was a political figure who was being mocked. The only character who wasn’t political was Chelsea, and they were clearly just taking the piss out of your appearance.” Wood replied with “Correct.

Another fan criticized the bad accent in the sketch, calling it “terrible.” Wood agreed again.

Later, Wood revealed that SNL had reached out. “I’ve had apologies from SNL,” she said, though she didn’t say who sent them or what they said.

Wood also shared that she was glad she spoke up, especially after dealing with feelings of self-doubt. “On a positive note, everyone is agreeing with me about it so I’m glad I said something instead of going in on myself,” she wrote.

While SNL is known for making fun of public figures, this time the joke didn’t land — and Aimee Lou Wood made sure her voice was heard.
