‘Wednesday’ Third Season Production Wraps as Netflix Shares New Photo
‘Wednesday‘ has emerged as one of Netflix’s standout series since its debut in 2022. The show, led by Jenna Ortega, garnered four Emmy nominations for its inaugural season, and Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Bela Bajaria, has labeled it the platform’s most popular English-language TV series.
This remarkable success prompted the renewal of the show for a third season in July 2025, even before the second season premiered. Since then, the story set in Nevermore Academy has taken a lengthy journey, with production spanning most of 2026.
Filming kicked off near Dublin in February and briefly shifted to Paris in April. Now, Netflix has announced that production on the ‘Wednesday’ third season has officially concluded, celebrating the milestone with a new image of Ortega as Wednesday Addams.

In the newly released image, captured by photographer James Pierce, Wednesday is seen in profile at a wooden desk, typing on a vintage typewriter illuminated by a metal desk lamp. The scene is dark and moody, with warm light highlighting her face.
She sports her iconic severe bob and a black jacket with white stripes. This atmospheric shot perfectly aligns with the show’s gothic aesthetic, and Netflix framed it as a nostalgic nod to the typewriter.
The conclusion of season two featured Wednesday and Thing embarking on a motorcycle adventure with her uncle Fester, portrayed by Fred Armisen, in search of her friend Enid, a werewolf trapped in her wolf form.
While Netflix has yet to unveil official plot details for the upcoming season, the Paris excursion may tie into the quest for Enid. A first-look image from April depicted Wednesday beside a motorcycle under the Eiffel Tower, with Thing perched on top, captioned “From Paris, with dread.”
Set photos also revealed Ortega, Armisen, and director Tim Burton filming near the Seine, with Ortega donning a new all-black ensemble.

The new season introduces some exciting new characters. Eva Green will portray Ophelia Frump, Morticia’s long-lost sister and Wednesday’s aunt, a storyline hinted at in the season two finale. Winona Ryder joins the cast as Tabitha, reuniting with Burton and Ortega after ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’.
Additionally, Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, and James Lance are set to join the cast in undisclosed roles. Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer will also be making appearances.
Burton has expressed his enthusiasm about returning and reuniting with the original cast, noting that the inclusion of friends and past collaborators like Ryder, Green, Sarandon, and Taylor adds a special touch to the season.
Returning cast members include Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley. Emma Myers will reprise her role as Enid Sinclair, alongside Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.
Co-creator Miles Millar has hinted that fans can expect to see more Addams family members and uncover deeper family secrets. Burton will return as director and executive producer, sharing directing responsibilities with Paco Cabezas.
While Netflix has not yet announced a premiere date, the season is absent from the streamer’s 2026 lineup. A release in 2027 is anticipated, with summer 2027 being suggested by some sources.
Historically, production for the show has taken considerable time. The first season required about six months, while the second season took approximately nine and a half months, with reports of script revisions and an on-set injury also impacting the timeline.
For now, all 16 episodes from the first two seasons are available for streaming on Netflix, allowing fans to revisit the series while awaiting Wednesday’s next adventure.
With filming now complete, the series will enter post-production, where visual effects and stop-motion elements will be finalized. This is likely contributing to the extended wait.
Nonetheless, the wrap photo showcases a show that has maintained its unique visual style. Share your thoughts in the comments about the ‘Wednesday’ third season wrap and what you hope to see when Wednesday returns.
