Amazon Prime Cancels ‘Gen V’ After Two Seasons—Fans Express Shock
Amazon Prime Video has made the decision to conclude its superhero spin-off, ‘Gen V’, sooner than anticipated.
The series debuted in 2023 and quickly garnered a dedicated fanbase as it expanded the universe of The Boys. Its second season premiered in September 2025 and has now been confirmed as the final installment, wrapping up its narrative in the fall of 2025.
Despite the series coming to an end, the creators assure fans that the characters will not vanish entirely. Executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg indicated that elements of the storyline will carry on in other projects within the same universe. They emphasized that viewers will encounter familiar faces in future productions, including The Boys Season 5 and other related spin-offs.
In a joint statement, they stated, “While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the ‘Gen V’ characters’ stories in ‘The Boys’ Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again.”
The series also encountered a significant real-life tragedy during its production. In April 2024, actor Chance Perdomo, a member of the cast, tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident.
His untimely death profoundly affected the production team, who later dedicated the second season to his memory. His family expressed at the time, “His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest. We ask you to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother.”
While Gen V has concluded, the broader universe continues to grow. The Boys is gearing up for its final season, and additional spin-offs are already in the works. One of these is Vought Rising, a prequel series slated for 2027. Another project, The Boys: Mexico, is also under development, although a release date has yet to be announced.
From a viewer’s perspective, this cancellation may seem abrupt, especially as the show was still gaining traction. However, it appears the studio aims to maintain a cohesive story universe through other series rather than prolonging every spin-off unnecessarily.
