‘Fourth Wing’ Series Moves Forward at Prime Video – Here Are the Details

‘Fourth Wing’ is officially being adapted into a TV series at Prime Video, as announced by Amazon MGM Studios during their annual Upfront presentation in New York City. This project is set to become a full series based on the popular fantasy book.

The story is penned by author Rebecca Yarros, whose novels have achieved global success. She will also serve as an executive producer for the show. The books have garnered a massive fan base worldwide, blending fantasy, romance, and intense action, which has resonated with readers.

The series is based on the first installment of ‘The Empyrean’ series, following a 20-year-old woman named Violet Sorrengail. Pressured by her mother, she joins a harsh military-style school known as Basgiath War College, where she competes against numerous recruits aspiring to become elite dragon riders. In this perilous world, only the strongest will survive.

Meredith Averill, recognized for her work on ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ and ‘Locke & Key’, is developing the adaptation and will act as showrunner and executive producer.

A notable creative team is attached to the project. Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, known for their work on ‘Fallout’, will executive produce through Kilter Films. Additionally, actor and producer Michael B. Jordan will also serve as an executive producer via his company Outlier Society. Other producers include Elizabeth Raposo, Athena Wickham, Liz Pelletier, and Sherryl Clark.

The announcement also indicated that the series has already been renewed for a second season, even before the first season has premiered. This demonstrates the studio’s confidence in the project and the strong fan interest.

This information comes from Amazon MGM Studios, which shared the news during its official Upfront event.

The success of ‘Fourth Wing’ as a book series significantly contributed to the adaptation’s greenlight. The novels quickly became a worldwide sensation, remaining on bestseller lists and cultivating a robust online fan community. Readers were captivated by the combination of dragons, war school drama, romance, and high-stakes survival challenges.

Currently, there is no release date, and casting details have yet to be announced. The production is still in its early stages, with more updates expected as development progresses.
