First Look Photos of Will Ferrell in Netflix’s New Comedy Series ‘The Hawk’

Netflix has unveiled the first look images for ‘The Hawk’, the upcoming comedy series featuring Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon.

Set to premiere in the summer of this year, the series will delve into the realm of professional golf. Ferrell portrays Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, a golfer who becomes the face of a controversial new league challenging the PGA Tour.

The newly released photos provide fans with their first glimpse of Ferrell in character. The images showcase the actor in vibrant golf attire on the course during tournament scenes. Other cast members also make appearances in the preview images shared by Netflix.

Since its initial announcement in 2023, the project has undergone several changes. Initially titled “Golf,” the series was described as a narrative about a professional golfer’s involvement in a rival sports league that disrupts the golf landscape.

The series was first introduced as a collaboration between Gloria Sanchez Productions, founded by Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum, and T-Street Productions, led by filmmaker Rian Johnson and producer Ram Bergman.

In 2024, Netflix confirmed the project’s advancement, announcing that Ferrell was co-creating the show with Ramy Youssef and Josh Rabinowitz. However, reports later indicated that Youssef and Rabinowitz departed due to creative differences during development.

Despite these changes, production continued, and additional cast members joined throughout 2025. Alongside Ferrell and Shannon, the cast now features Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby.

Earlier this year, Netflix officially changed the title from “Golf” to “The Hawk.” While an exact release date has yet to be announced, the series is anticipated to debut in mid-2026.

This comedy represents another significant television venture for Ferrell, who has consistently been one of Hollywood’s leading comedy stars through films like ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy’, ‘Step Brothers’, and ‘Elf’.

With the first look photos now available and production progressing, Netflix is generating excitement for what could become one of its major comedy launches of 2026.
