The Boys Star Discusses Emotional Death in Final Season
The latest episode of ‘The Boys’ has brought another significant character death in its final season, prompting one of the actors to share insights about this emotional exit.
In this episode, Frenchie, portrayed by Tomer Capone, makes the ultimate sacrifice to protect his team during a tense encounter with Homelander. This moment stands out as one of the most poignant scenes of the season, especially as Kimiko cradles him in his last moments.
Capone later opened up about the storyline, revealing that he anticipated his character’s demise early on. He stated, “I knew it was coming. I knew it was inevitable.”
He mentioned that showrunner Eric Kripke had reached out to him prior to filming to prepare him for the character’s fate. Even before he read the script, Capone felt a sense of what was to come.
He described the experience as emotionally intense, sharing that after his conversation with Kripke, he spent hours processing the news. He felt a mix of disconnection and overwhelm until he received the script and grasped how the narrative would unfold.
Frenchie’s death was strategically planned as part of the series’ concluding arc. Kripke told Entertainment Weekly that the writers had explored various character exits before deciding on Frenchie’s storyline.
Kripke explained that their aim was to create the most powerful emotional impact leading up to the series finale. The writers sought a death that would resonate deeply with the group, particularly given Frenchie’s close bond with Kimiko and the emotional core they represent in the narrative.
He added that as the season’s structure solidified, the options for character deaths became more limited, making Frenchie’s storyline a fitting choice for the direction they wanted to take.

Capone also reflected on the experience of filming his final scenes, describing the atmosphere on set as emotional and supportive, with the cast and crew coming together during the last days of production.
He remarked, “It was like a tribe saying goodbye.” He noted that there were tears, hugs, and a profound sense of closure as filming concluded.
After years of being part of ‘The Boys’, Capone expressed that he will miss the cast and crew, emphasizing that the relationships formed on set were a significant aspect of what made the show meaningful for him.
The series is now approaching its final episode, set to premiere on May 20 on Prime Video, bringing ‘The Boys’ story closer to its conclusion.
