New Featurette for Steven Spielberg’s ‘Disclosure Day’ Highlights Emily Blunt’s Role
A fresh featurette for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming science fiction film Disclosure Day has been unveiled, offering viewers an exciting glimpse of the movie ahead of its theatrical release. This information comes from official promotional materials shared by the studio, along with entertainment industry reports covering the film’s production and marketing efforts.
Directed by Steven Spielberg and penned by David Koepp, the film is based on a story developed by Spielberg himself. It is set to hit theaters on June 12, featuring IMAX screenings in the United States through Universal Pictures. The featurette prominently showcases the main cast, particularly Emily Blunt.
Disclosure Day is described as a science fiction narrative centered on a UFO-related mystery and a global conspiracy involving influential institutions. Emily Blunt stars as Margaret Fairchild, a Kansas City meteorologist and former journalist who gets drawn into uncovering the truth behind strange occurrences. Josh O’Connor plays Daniel Kellner, a cybersecurity expert and whistleblower.
Colin Firth portrays Noah Scanlon, a powerful corporate figure linked to the Wardex corporation. Eve Hewson plays Jane Blankenship, Daniel’s partner and a former nun. Colman Domingo takes on the role of Hugo Wakefield, a defector advocating for public disclosure, while Wyatt Russell plays Jackson, Margaret’s partner.
The film’s development kicked off in 2024 when reports confirmed Spielberg was working on a UFO-themed project based on his original concept. David Koepp, a frequent collaborator with Spielberg, was brought on board to write the screenplay. Production notes indicate that Koepp navigated through numerous script drafts while developing the story from Spielberg’s original treatment.
The cast was assembled throughout 2024, with Emily Blunt confirmed as the lead early in the process. She is joined by a diverse ensemble cast that expanded over several months, including actors like Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Josh O’Connor, and Wyatt Russell. Additional supporting roles feature Elizabeth Marvel, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Elliot Villar, and others.
Filming for Disclosure Day took place from February to May 2025 across various locations in the United States, including New York, New Jersey, and Atlanta. Production was conducted under the working title Non-View. Several large-scale location shoots were reported, featuring urban streets, rail lines, and staged public environments designed for crowd scenes and government-related settings.
The production also welcomed back frequent Spielberg collaborator John Williams, who is set to compose the film’s score. This marks another chapter in the long-standing partnership between the director and composer, continuing a collaboration that has spanned decades across some of Spielberg’s most iconic films.
According to studio information, Disclosure Day is intended for a wide IMAX release and is currently scheduled for June 12. The release date was shifted from an earlier planned date in May 2026, but the summer launch remains part of Universal Pictures’ major lineup for the year.
The newly released featurette emphasizes the film’s tone and its central characters. Emily Blunt’s character is portrayed as possessing a unique ability that places her at the heart of a global mystery, while other characters grapple with government secrecy, corporate control, and scientific discovery.
With Spielberg at the helm and a large ensemble cast, Disclosure Day is being positioned as one of the major science fiction releases of 2026.
