Tom Hardy’s Future in ‘MobLand’ Remains Promising as Paramount Plans His Return
According to a report from Variety, Tom Hardy has not been fired from the Paramount+ crime drama ‘MobLand’. The actor, who portrays gangster Harry Da Souza, is still in discussions regarding a potential return for a third season.
Rumors about Hardy’s departure arose following reports of behind-the-scenes tensions. However, production sources clarified to Variety that these claims are unfounded. One insider stated, “Tom was not fired, the door is not closed for Season 3 and things are being worked through creatively.”
Since its debut in 2025, ‘MobLand’ has emerged as one of Paramount+’s standout hits. The series revolves around a British crime family, featuring performances by Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. Created by Ronan Bennett and Jez Butterworth, the show is produced by 101 Studios and MTV Entertainment Studios, with Guy Ritchie serving as an executive producer and director for several episodes.
While Season 2 has completed filming, it has yet to be released. Production for Season 3 was anticipated to commence later this year, with Hardy expected to reprise his role as Harry Da Souza.
A production source informed Variety that efforts are being made to ensure Hardy’s continued involvement. The source remarked, “Guy is probably pushing David Glasser to make it work. Guy likes working with Tom.”
Initial reports of conflict between Hardy and the producers included claims of disagreements with writer Jez Butterworth and producer David Glasser. Variety confirmed that while tensions were real, Hardy was never officially removed from the cast.
The reported issues stemmed from various factors. Some sources indicated that Hardy occasionally arrived late on set and sought changes to scripts. Others noted that the writing team sometimes delivered scripts very close to filming dates, complicating preparation. One insider explained, “Tom likes to prepare.”
Challenges also arose due to Butterworth’s inconsistent presence on set, making real-time script adjustments difficult. A production insider mentioned that when changes were necessary, there was often no one available to approve them promptly.
Director Guy Ritchie’s involvement has helped alleviate some tensions during episodes, thanks to his experience with rapid script decisions. One source noted that Ritchie and Hardy share a strong working relationship and mutual understanding.
However, the situation became more complex with multiple directors involved in the series. The absence of a single decisive leader on set led to increased disagreements over scripts and performance notes.
Despite the challenges, several sources affirmed that Hardy is still highly regarded by the team. An insider mentioned that while the show could continue without him, it would lose a significant part of its appeal. Nonetheless, they added that writing his character out would not be an easy task.
Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan were also mentioned in reports, indicating that they sometimes experienced delays during filming. However, there were no reports of personal conflicts between the actors.

Variety reports that Hardy may still return for Season 3 if creative issues are resolved. He is also believed to be needed for possible reshoots for Season 2.
For now, the situation remains fluid. Ongoing discussions are taking place, and no final decision has been reached regarding Harry Da Souza’s future.
