‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Pop-Up Menu Features Doctor Doom Easter Eggs for Fans
Marvel has a talent for transforming promotional materials into deep dives of lore, and its latest marketing strategy for ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ is no different. With its highly anticipated theatrical release approaching, Marvel has been generating excitement, and fans are closely monitoring every detail that emerges.
The latest initiative is linked to SXSW London, where directors Joe and Anthony Russo have been making appearances related to their production company AGBO. The temporary venue, a revamped Flying Horse Coffee in Shoreditch, East London, has been transformed into the Dom Latveria Coffee pop-up, a fully themed experience filled with Doom-inspired branding and collectibles.
This venture kicked off with a mysterious Instagram post from the Russo Brothers, featuring an address and a promise of a “surprise” at 2 pm BST, igniting a wave of speculation among fans about a potential trailer.
What awaited them was something far more niche and arguably more rewarding for dedicated comic book readers. As noted by @LuminousDagger, the Dom Latveria Coffee menu serves as a condensed biography of Victor Von Doom, cleverly represented through various drinks.
The “Fortunov” single espresso pays homage to Vladimir Fortunov, the tyrannical wartime ruler of Latveria who was ultimately overthrown and killed by Doom. “The Rapprochement” hot latte references the official Latverian holiday of forgiveness, while “Cynthia’s Blend” matcha latte honors Doom’s mother, a Romani sorceress.
The “Zefiro” flat white nods to the Zefiro Clan, the Romani group persecuted by Fortunov and the clan from which Doom’s mother hailed. Completing the menu is the “Hassenstadt Dark” americano, named after the capital of Latveria before Doom seized control and renamed it Doomstadt.
This level of comic book detail is what distinguishes a casual viewer from someone well-versed in decades of Marvel lore.
Beyond the menu, the coffee bags feature the slogan “The Official Coffee of World Domination,” labeled as “Approved by the Ministry of Morale,” while another tagline states “Resistance Is Delicious.” A sign inside the shop provocatively declares “Richards Was Wrong,” a direct jab at Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic and one of Doctor Doom’s greatest adversaries in the comics.
The online reaction has been mixed yet undeniably vocal. Many fans found humor in Marvel’s ability to create trailer-level excitement for a coffee shop, while others began theorizing about the implications of the Doom lore hints for the film itself. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is currently scheduled for a December 18, 2026 release, featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom alongside a vast ensemble cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, and more.
The Latverian runes displayed on the menu have already sent die-hard MCU fans into a frenzy, with many viewing the pop-up as a breadcrumb trail leading to Easter eggs in the film and beyond. Whether the “Richards Was Wrong” sign hints at a specific rivalry between Robert Downey Jr.’s Doom and Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards or simply alludes to established comic canon remains to be seen, but Marvel clearly aims to keep fans pondering that very question. Which Easter egg from the Dom Latveria menu do you believe will carry the most significance when the film finally premieres?
