Millie Bobby Brown has expressed her views on a potential ‘Sherlock Holmes’ spinoff featuring Henry Cavill and Himesh Patel, and her response may surprise fans of the franchise.

In an exclusive interview with ComicBook, Brown was asked about the possibility of Netflix expanding the ‘Enola Holmes’ universe with a separate series or film centered on Sherlock Holmes and his partner John Watson. While the concept has piqued the interest of many fans, Brown emphasized her preference for more stories that focus on female characters. “I think we need more women on screen, so maybe not,” Brown stated during the interview.

The actress further elaborated that audiences have already been exposed to numerous male-led narratives, suggesting that it’s time to shift the focus toward more women-driven projects. “I think we’ve had that. Men have had their time, and it’s more Enola and more putting women on screen, for me,” she added.

Brown’s remarks come as the ‘Enola Holmes’ franchise continues to thrive on Netflix. The series, which follows the adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister, has emerged as one of the streaming platform’s most successful movie franchises. Not only does Brown star as Enola, but she also plays a significant role in developing the project as a producer.

The idea of a ‘Sherlock Holmes’ and John Watson spinoff has gained traction among fans, largely due to Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Sherlock and Himesh Patel’s expanded role as Watson. Cavill has reprised his role throughout the ‘Enola Holmes’ films, while Patel’s character has become increasingly involved in the latest installment.

While Brown seems hesitant to lead a ‘Sherlock’-focused project, Patel expressed a more enthusiastic stance on the idea. In his conversation with ComicBook, he mentioned that he would be keen to collaborate further with Cavill if Netflix chose to pursue that storyline.

“I haven’t had that conversation, but I’d love to,” Patel remarked. “Someone send this interview to the higher-ups at Netflix, and let’s see what happens.”

Patel shared that he enjoys the dynamic between Watson and Sherlock and believes there is still much to explore in their relationship. “Given the way the story unfolds – Sherlock’s missing – we didn’t really get a whole lot of time together, and especially we didn’t really get any time together on set,” he explained.

He also praised Cavill’s performance, expressing his desire to share more scenes with him in future projects. “Henry’s done some beautiful work in this movie. People will see that there are some really, really powerful moments with Sherlock, and he’s clearly a fantastic actor and I’d love to dance with him a bit more,” Patel added.

Currently, Netflix has not made any announcements regarding a ‘Sherlock Holmes’ and John Watson spinoff. Brown also clarified that the future of ‘Enola Holmes’ depends on various factors, including Netflix’s interest and audience reactions.

When asked about the possibility of returning for a potential ‘Enola Holmes 4’, Brown indicated her interest, provided the right people are involved. “I’m not the decider in that, but we’ll see how this one does. But yeah, I’m there if Netflix is there and Louise is there,” she said.

While the fate of a ‘Sherlock’-focused project remains uncertain, Brown’s message is clear: she advocates for the franchise to continue showcasing Enola and other female characters rather than reverting to another male-led detective narrative.
