Zendaya has spent nearly a decade demonstrating that a press tour can serve as a unique form of storytelling, and her rollout for Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ has elevated this concept to new heights.

In her role as the goddess Athena in this expansive adaptation of Homer’s epic, Zendaya and her longtime stylist Law Roach have crafted an entire wardrobe that embodies the character, rather than merely dressing for the red carpet.

This creative approach has taken them from London to Paris and now to New York, with Roach curating a mix of fresh couture and vintage gowns, all aimed at channeling Athena’s essence off-screen.

Throughout the tour, their collaboration has drawn parallels to some of Zendaya and Roach’s most iconic fashion moments, including their robot-inspired looks from the ‘Dune’ premiere and the tennis court chic style associated with ‘Challengers’.

New York marked the latest stop in this fashion journey, where Zendaya was seen heading to various press events dressed entirely in sleek black leather. The ensemble featured a structured black leather blazer paired with matching pants and a simple white top, creating a sharp, armor-like silhouette that contrasted with the more elaborate gowns she wore earlier in the tour.

This contrast has become a signature of this press tour. Just days before her New York appearance, Zendaya dazzled in a plunging gold-embellished Alberta Ferretti dress paired with gladiator-style heels while signing autographs for fans, later changing into a cutout white Jacquemus dress on the same day.

The most talked-about moment of the tour occurred in London and Paris, where Roach secured the final look from Schiaparelli’s Fall 2026 Haute Couture show, describing the last-minute delivery as a special dress for a special girl. Zendaya wore the sculpted, beaded gown just hours after it debuted on the runway. She later embraced fashion history by donning a dramatic 1997 Givenchy Haute Couture piece originally designed by Alexander McQueen in Paris.

Each of these outfits has been interpreted by fashion critics as part of a cohesive narrative, tracing Athena’s presence through everything from combative, armor-inspired silhouettes to more ethereal, goddess-like gowns.

This cohesive visual journey has become a defining aspect of how Zendaya and Roach approach these promotional campaigns, treating the entire press cycle as a single, extended fashion statement.

The New York leg of the tour also carried added significance due to the film’s ensemble cast. Zendaya has been promoting ‘The Odyssey’ alongside her husband Tom Holland and co-stars Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron, all gathering in the city ahead of the film’s release on July 17.

As the film hits theaters and the promotional cycle comes to a close, Zendaya’s Athena-inspired press tour is poised to be remembered as one of the most ambitious fashion storytelling efforts of the year.
