Sony’s ‘Spider-Verse’ Films Featured in Studio’s New Poster Retrospective
This week, Sony Pictures has been revisiting its entire Spider-Man cinematic catalog, refreshing the visual style of each era. After giving a new look to Sam Raimi’s original trilogy, Andrew Garfield’s two films, and Tom Holland’s MCU chapter, the studio has now shifted its focus to the animated segment of its Spider-Man universe.
The Spider-Verse films hold a special place in Sony’s lineup, having garnered some of the best critical acclaim within the entire franchise. Both ‘Into the Spider-Verse’ and its sequel expanded Spider-Man’s mythology well beyond any single actor or timeline, introducing audiences to a vast multiverse filled with Spider-People.
Sony Pictures has released new poster artwork for ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ and ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’, as part of a larger ten-poster series that encompasses every live-action and animated Spider-Man film produced by the studio.
The new poster for ‘Into the Spider-Verse’ features a vibrant purple design, showcasing Miles Morales alongside Gwen Stacy, Peter B. Parker, and the Prowler, the key characters central to Miles’ origin story as Brooklyn’s latest web-slinger.

The poster for ‘Across the Spider-Verse’ continues this visual theme while significantly expanding its scope. The 2023 sequel follows Miles as he reunites with Gwen Stacy, launching him into the Multiverse where he encounters the Spider Society, a vast team of Spider-People dedicated to safeguarding the Multiverse. This expanded cast includes characters like Miguel O’Hara, also known as Spider-Man 2099, and Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman, giving the sequel a much broader canvas than its predecessor.

Both films maintain their unique animated visual style within this new poster series, standing out from the redesigned live-action artwork representing Raimi, Garfield, and Holland’s eras. This contrast highlights the distinct approach the Spider-Verse films have taken compared to their live-action counterparts, embracing bold, comic-inspired visuals rather than photorealistic action.
This release concludes a broader retrospective that has unfolded throughout the week, ultimately covering all ten major Spider-Man films that Sony has released thus far. This collection offers fans a rare chance to see every version of the character, from Tobey Maguire’s early days in 2002 to Tom Holland’s ongoing MCU journey, presented together in a unified visual project.
The timing of this rollout coincides closely with ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ continuing its record-breaking performance in theaters, providing Sony with a perfect opportunity to highlight the franchise’s extensive history while public interest remains high. It also follows the news of Raimi’s original trilogy returning to theaters last fall through a limited Fathom Entertainment release, indicating that Sony has many plans to keep the character’s legacy in the spotlight well beyond this poster campaign.
With animation continuing to represent some of the franchise’s most celebrated work, including the Spider-Verse films alongside their live-action counterparts feels like a fitting tribute to how these movies have transformed the narrative possibilities of a Spider-Man story.
