First Trailer for ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ – Release Date, Plot, and Voice Cast Details
The ‘Dragon Ball’ franchise continues to thrive in popular culture, and it seems Toei Animation is preparing for another significant moment. With ongoing manga chapters, new game announcements, and a dedicated fanbase, the studio has been teasing something exciting for long-time fans of Goku and his friends.
This anticipation has now materialized with the announcement of ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus,’ an enhanced reimagining of the anime’s early arcs, alongside a brand-new trailer that provides fans with their first glimpse of what to expect.
The series is set to premiere in Japan on October 11, 2026, marking the return of ‘Dragon Ball Super’ to television after several years. Along with the release date, Toei unveiled the “Super Surge” trailer, showcasing the revamped visuals and updated animation style that will drive this project.
‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ serves as an “ENHANCED” edition of the original ‘Dragon Ball Super’ anime, featuring a reconstructed narrative along with newly added and redrawn animation sequences. The story resumes several years after the battle against Majin Buu, focusing on the God of Destruction Beerus, who awakens to a prophecy foretelling his demise at the hands of a mysterious Saiyan god.
His quest for this Saiyan ultimately brings him to Earth, setting the stage for an unprecedented confrontation with Goku and his allies. According to details revealed with the trailer, the series is expected to cover the Battle of Gods, Resurrection ‘F,’ and Universe 6 sagas, providing fans with a faithful, manga-aligned retelling of some of the franchise’s most cherished story arcs.
The new footage also hints at the return of Frieza, suggesting an expanded role for the villain as the narrative unfolds. This addition, combined with the “Super Surge” visual overhaul, indicates that this isn’t merely a shot-for-shot remake but a series that aims to enhance the source material in innovative ways.
The trailer also introduces the series’ opening and ending theme songs. “ONOGAMI,” performed by MEGATERA・ZERO, serves as the energetic opening track, highlighting the intense battles between Goku and Beerus with the newly enhanced visual style. The ending theme, “Kan Peki No Peki,” performed by VK Blanka, focuses on quieter moments featuring the broader cast of fighters.
Before its Japanese premiere, ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ will make a significant appearance at New York Comic Con, taking place from October 8 to 11. The Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Special Panel is scheduled for October 8 at the Javits Center’s Empire Stage, featuring a world-premiere advance screening of the series’ first episode.
This panel will be hosted by Monica Rial, the English dub voice of Bulma, along with special guests Jason Douglas, who voices Beerus, and Ian Sinclair, who voices Whis. Attendees will also receive exclusive fan merchandise, including a fan chain, face towel, and a Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World energy marker.
Currently, only the Japanese broadcast and streaming date has been confirmed for October 11, with an international streaming release anticipated to follow. The specific platform for this global rollout has yet to be announced, but the New York Comic Con panel hints that more information could be revealed soon.
‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ also paves the way for the franchise’s next chapter, ‘Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol,’ which will eventually adapt the long-awaited Moro arc from the manga. With a reworked story, fresh music, and a returning voice cast ready to debut at Comic Con, excitement for the series’ October premiere is steadily increasing.
