First Look at Megan Thee Stallion in the ‘Baywatch’ Reboot Ahead of January Release
Few cameos seem as perfectly suited as a pop star on a beach. ‘Baywatch’ has always celebrated sun, sand, and spectacle, making a Houston rapper known for her vibrant stage presence a fitting addition. After months of anticipation following the initial set photos, fans can now get a proper glimpse of her role in the series.
The first look at Megan Thee Stallion in the ‘Baywatch’ reboot has been unveiled as part of the new full trailer from Fox, set to premiere in January. According to Variety, the hip-hop sensation appears in the footage, joining a cast that features a mix of new and familiar faces. The trailer has garnered attention for its striking red swimsuits, impressive stunts, and plenty of slow-motion running.
This cameo has been one of the most discussed secrets of the show since the summer. Reports indicated that she filmed a guest appearance as herself near Rosie’s Dog Beach in Long Beach, California, with the scene reportedly including a concert stage, wrapping up filming on Thursday, June 4. Megan confirmed her appearance on Instagram by sharing behind-the-scenes photos from the set.

The most captivating images from the shoot featured Megan participating in the franchise’s signature moment. On June 5, she was photographed running along the sand in Long Beach, leading a group of lifeguards while carrying the iconic red rescue float. This scene appeared to pay homage to the slow-motion run that contributed to the original series’ global success.
She was also seen wearing a stylish patterned orange bikini in set photos, a look that fans quickly embraced. Her appearance as herself adds a pop-culture twist to a series that has always embraced celebrity glamour. It also aligns with the show’s strategy of blending nostalgia with contemporary stars.
For Megan, this cameo marks another addition to her expanding list of mainstream projects. The ‘Savage’ singer previously made history as the first woman to portray Zidler in the Broadway production of ‘Moulin Rouge!’, a role typically associated with Harold Zidler. While a beach cameo may be a lighter task, it continues her transition from music to acting and broader entertainment.
Fans have welcomed the casting, with coverage highlighting it as a perfect fit for a franchise known for its iconic beach personalities. Her involvement also helps connect the show to a younger, music-focused audience, which could be beneficial for a series aiming to attract both long-time fans and newcomers.

Fox’s ‘Baywatch’ features Stephen Amell as Hobie Buchannon, with Jessica Belkin portraying his daughter, Charlie. The cast also includes Hassie Harrison, Shay Mitchell, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck, Brooks Nader, Livvy Dunne, and David Chokachi, along with recurring roles for Ashley Moore, Luke Eisner, Nadia Gray, Kylar Miranda, and Charlie McElveen. Original series stars Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin, Kelly Packard, and Mary McDonnell have also returned in various roles.
Showrunner Matt Nix serves as an executive producer alongside McG, who directed the premiere, along with Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz. The series is co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle. Fox greenlit the reboot in September 2025 with a 12-episode order, held an open casting call in early 2026, and began production in Los Angeles during the spring.
The original ‘Baywatch’ aired for 11 seasons from 1989 to 2001, solidifying Pamela Anderson as a television icon of the 1990s. A subsequent attempt to revive the franchise as a comedic film, featuring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, failed to capture the same magic. This new series is designed as a direct continuation of the original, aiming to recapture the earnest, over-the-top spirit that made it a phenomenon.
Celebrity cameos have always been integral to that identity. By featuring a major music star for a guest role, the new show demonstrates its ability to keep the brand relevant while honoring its legacy. If the trailer is any indication, it also knows how to deliver the iconic beach-run imagery fans have come to expect.
