Marvel Teases the Maximoff Family in Cryptic Binary Code for ‘VisionQuest’
Marvel has a knack for creating intrigue, and its marketing team excels at keeping fans on their toes. From coded messages to hidden Easter eggs, every promotional piece is treated like a puzzle. Now, ‘VisionQuest‘ has joined the ranks of shows receiving this cryptic treatment.
The Disney+ series follows Paul Bettany’s Vision following the events of ‘WandaVision’. It debuted this month, with the first two episodes released simultaneously, and the remaining episodes of the 8-episode season are being released weekly. As the show progresses, fans are eagerly analyzing every update for clues.
Recently, Marvel’s Latin American account shared a post for ‘VisionQuest’ that appeared as a wall of 1s and 0s. When decoded, the binary message translates in Spanish to “There are other Maximoffs. The Maximoff family.” This brief phrase has sparked excitement among fans about who it might refer to.
Marvel has yet to clarify the message, leaving everything open to speculation. However, the timing coincides with the show delving into Vision’s ties to his family, making the message feel intentional.

The most likely candidate is Billy Maximoff, portrayed by Joe Locke. Billy was first introduced as one of the twin sons Wanda created within the Westview Hex in ‘WandaVision’, and he made a return in ‘Agatha All Along’. Although Marvel has not confirmed his appearance in ‘VisionQuest’, trailers have hinted at it, and Locke was present at the premiere.
Wanda, played by Elizabeth Olsen, seems less likely to make an appearance. There is no confirmation regarding her return to the MCU. The message might also simply refer to Vision attempting to emotionally connect with the memories of the family he lost.
One Maximoff is already prominently featured. Ruaridh Mollica plays Thomas Shepherd, a teenager whose body now hosts the soul of Tommy Maximoff, the other twin from ‘WandaVision’. Like his uncle Pietro, Tommy possesses superhuman speed, while Billy has inherited magical abilities akin to his mother’s.
Vision and Thomas embark on a journey together, and their relationship serves as the emotional heart of the show’s father-son narrative. This setup makes the hint about the broader family even more compelling. With Tommy already involved, a reunion with his brother would seem like a natural progression.

The series begins with Vision living as a human, working at a pub under the name Sherwood Ellis. He is depicted as resurrected with an all-white appearance and devoid of emotions, struggling to reconnect with his past. Bettany has mentioned that Vision has been integrating other AIs into his mind to keep them alive.
This detail directly ties into the show’s supporting cast. James Spader reprises his role as Ultron, and the AI lineup includes Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H., Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., and T’Nia Miller as Jocasta. Lauren Morais plays Lisa Molinari, completing a cast that merges familiar faces with new characters.

‘VisionQuest’ is positioned as the conclusion to the ‘WandaVision’ saga, making family a fitting theme. Terry Matalas serves as showrunner, with Christopher J. Byrne, Vincenzo Natali, and Gandja Monteiro among the directors. The series carries significant emotional weight that needs resolution.
If the hint points to Billy, it could pave the way for a significant reunion before the season wraps up. If it leads to something else entirely, Marvel may be holding back a bigger surprise. Regardless, the studio has effectively encouraged fans to rewatch every scene for clues.
With several episodes still ahead, fans won’t have to wait long to discover if the binary message leads to anything substantial. For now, the enigmatic post has succeeded in transforming a simple phrase into a full-fledged theory discussion.
