A Multi-Region ‘Pokémon’ MMO Is Allegedly Under Development at Game Freak
For years, fans have envisioned the ultimate ‘Pokémon‘ game, consistently dreaming of a vast, interconnected world that encompasses every region from Kanto to Paldea. This ambitious idea has recently gained traction due to new leaks that have sparked considerable excitement.
According to recent reports, a multi-region ‘Pokémon’ MMO is reportedly in the works at Game Freak, as shared by prominent leaker Centro LEAKS. While Game Freak, Nintendo, and The Pokémon Company have yet to confirm this information, the prospect of a game that merges the franchise’s various regions into one expansive world is generating significant buzz among fans.
The project is said to carry the internal codename Project Seed, with initial details indicating that regions like Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Kitakami will be interconnected. Other regions such as Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, and Paldea have also been mentioned, but it remains unclear which will ultimately be included.
Described as a prototyping effort for “a next-generation online game,” this concept would allow players to traverse regions freely and interact in ways that the mainline games have not fully supported. This suggests a persistent shared world rather than a traditional single-player ‘Pokémon’ experience.
Much of this information stems from the 2022 “Teraleak,” which revealed a wealth of internal Game Freak documents. Some reports indicate that the planning materials may date back to 2020, raising questions about the timeliness of the information.
Centro LEAKS has established a reputation within the ‘Pokémon’ community for generating excitement around unreleased projects, and this latest claim aligns with that trend. However, without official confirmation from Game Freak, this leak remains speculative.
Timing estimates for the project vary widely, highlighting its early development stage. Some leaks suggest that pre-production began earlier this year, with release speculation ranging from a launch alongside the already-announced ‘Pokémon Winds and Waves’ in 2027 to a later Generation 11 release that could extend into the end of the decade.
Such uncertainty is typical for a project still in prototyping. Game Freak has a history of keeping ambitious side projects under wraps for years before any formal announcements, and an MMO covering multiple regions would be one of their most technically challenging endeavors to date.
The resonance of this leak is amplified by how closely it aligns with fan desires. A single, interconnected ‘Pokémon’ world has been a long-standing fan theory and wish-list item, especially as online multiplayer has become a more realistic expectation for the franchise.
Whether Project Seed will ever be officially announced remains uncertain, and Game Freak’s lack of commentary leaves room for these details to change or vanish entirely. Until the studio or The Pokémon Company provides direct input, the alleged MMO, its list of regions, and its release timeline all remain unverified.
This isn’t the first time rumors of a ‘Pokémon’ MMO have emerged, and it likely won’t be the last before any confirmation is made. The franchise’s leak culture has become increasingly active in recent years, with datamines and insider claims frequently filling the void between official announcements.
This cycle keeps fans both excited and skeptical, aware that not every leaked concept makes it to release. Nevertheless, the idea of a connected, multi-region world remains one of the most enticing possibilities that the rumor mill has suggested for the franchise’s future.
