Amy Pascal Hints at Tom Hardy Venom and Tom Holland Spider-Man Crossover Fans Desire
Marvel and Sony have kept fans on the edge of their seats with one of the most anticipated crossovers in modern blockbuster history, yet it remains unfulfilled. Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock made a notable cameo in the post-credits scene of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, only to be swiftly returned to his own universe, leaving fans with a lingering sense of curiosity and a smear of symbiote residue on a bar top in Mexico.
This moment has turned into a running joke among fans, especially given the lack of progress on the crossover since then. Hardy’s ‘Venom’ trilogy concluded with 2024’s ‘Venom: The Last Dance’, seemingly wrapping up the character’s arc without ever having him share the screen with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, despite the narrative setup inviting a follow-up.
The topic resurfaced during the promotion of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, where producer Amy Pascal and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige joined Josh Horowitz on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast. When Horowitz inquired about the actual proximity of the studios to making the crossover a reality, Pascal offered a typically coy remark: “It would be great, let’s put it that way.”
That statement alone was enough to spark renewed fan speculation, but the conversation continued. When Horowitz pressed on whether there was still hope for the crossover, Feige replied, “Always have hope,” which prompted Pascal to affirm, “I have hope. We have hope.”
This optimism carries weight, especially considering Feige’s cautious approach to crossover discussions. He is known for being careful not to overpromise on franchise collaborations that haven’t been officially approved. However, according to ComicBook.com’s account of the same discussion, Feige also humorously noted that saying otherwise might make him “look crazy,” before later conceding a more blunt “we have no hope” at another point, leaving the authenticity of the optimism somewhat unclear.
Tom Hardy has expressed his eagerness to finally share the screen with Holland. During an appearance on The Discourse Podcast in 2025, Hardy revealed how close the crossover had come to fruition at one point, stating, “We got as close as I could possibly imagine getting, apart from doing a film together, which I would have loved to have done because that just means so much fun.”
In addition to the Holland-Hardy speculation, Pascal confirmed that an animated Venom film is currently in the works at Sony. However, she did not clarify whether Hardy would reprise his role as Eddie Brock in that project, leaving that detail open for future updates.

As of now, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is set to release without any Venom appearance, despite featuring other Marvel characters like Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. This absence, along with the unresolved symbiote storyline left from ‘No Way Home’, keeps the possibility alive, even without any concrete plans in place.
Given the number of times Marvel and Sony have revisited this topic over the years without committing to an actual project, fans have learned to approach comments like Pascal’s with a degree of skepticism. Nevertheless, with both producers unwilling to fully shut the door during a prominent press event, the crossover remains just as it has since 2021: tantalizingly possible and entirely unconfirmed.
