Anthony Mackie Says ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Will Have Fans Seeing Doom Everywhere
The countdown has officially begun for Marvel’s next major event film. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to hit theaters exclusively on December 18, 2026, following a release-date change from its original May 1, 2026 slot.
The excitement has been building ever since the first full trailer dropped, offering fans their first look at Doctor Doom. This trailer features the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men all coming together, and it reportedly garnered around 503 million views within the first 24 hours.
Now, one of the film’s stars is sharing insights on what audiences can expect. In a clip shared by Cosmic Marvel on X, Anthony Mackie mentions that fans should prepare for “the amount of doom you’re going to see.” He humorously adds that every time someone speaks, it feels like there’s “a lot of doom outside.”
The video captures Mackie on stage in front of an ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ banner in Spanish, flanked by some of his co-stars. His playful warning suggests that the presence of the villain will loom over nearly every scene.
Anthony Mackie on what fans can expect from ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY’:
“I think the big thing is the amount of doom you’re going to see. It’s like every corner we turn, every time somebody speaks, it’s like, ‘Yo, there’s a lot of doom outside.’” pic.twitter.com/nHesZgeDkT

This aligns with what Marvel has been showcasing. Robert Downey Jr. is seen trading Iron Man’s armor for Doctor Doom’s mask, and the July trailer hints that Doom communicates in a slower, more deliberate manner compared to Tony Stark’s rapid-fire banter. Based on Mackie’s tone, it seems the heroes will find it challenging to evade him.
Mackie has been hinting at the film’s atmosphere for some time. He previously shared with Collider that the movie concludes with a significant cliffhanger and that no character is truly safe. Earlier, he told IGN that the film aims to recapture the classic Marvel essence that fans fondly remember.
He is also involved in one of the film’s key storylines. Both Chris Evans and Mackie have indicated that Steve Rogers will adopt the Nomad identity, reminiscent of the comics. Evans reprises his role as Rogers for the first time since ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in 2019, paving the way for a reunion between the Captain America of the past and the present.
Marvel continues to stoke the excitement. The studio’s San Diego Comic-Con panel featured an exclusive in-room preview of the film and directly engaged fans. A new promo released on October 3 showcases Evans, Mackie, Hayley Atwell, Simu Liu, and Danny Ramirez.

The buzz is also spreading internationally. Ticket presales began on September 28 in Mexico’s Cinemex and Cinépolis, with the film set to release there on December 17, which may explain the Spanish banner behind the cast.
Marvel is also preparing audiences for a lengthy experience. The film has a runtime of 2 hours and 45 minutes, allowing ample time for Mackie’s promised doom. The sequel, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ is scheduled for December 17, 2027, ensuring the story continues beyond this installment.
