Brad Pitt and Ines de Ramon have been steadily nurturing their public relationship over the past couple of years, making appearances on red carpets from the Venice Film Festival to European premieres in London. Each event offers fans a glimpse into their romance, which has largely remained private outside of these curated moments.

This trend continued on Wednesday, September 16, when the couple attended the global premiere of Pitt’s new film at the FirstBank Amphitheater in Franklin, Tennessee. Pitt, 62, and de Ramon, 33, held hands throughout the evening, providing fans with another clear view of their increasingly public relationship.

Their appearance was particularly significant this week, coming just days after news broke that Pitt’s eldest son, Maddox Jolie, had officially removed his father’s surname from his legal name, marking the end of a personal chapter that has been developing for years.

For the premiere, Pitt embraced the film’s outdoor survival theme, donning a camouflage-print suit paired with relaxed trousers and an olive-green T-shirt, accessorized with tinted aviator glasses, a gold chain, and worn leather boots. In contrast, de Ramon opted for a floaty, see-through peach-toned gown featuring a plunging neckline adorned with delicate lace, a softly gathered bodice, and a flowing, tiered skirt that gracefully fell to the floor.

The film, directed by David Ayer, follows Special Forces officer James Belmont and his combat dog, Odin, as they navigate survival in the Alaskan wilderness after a plane crash. The cast also features J.K. Simmons, rounding out an ensemble centered on Pitt’s return to intense, physical survival storytelling.

According to Page Six, a Los Angeles court recently approved Maddox’s petition to change his legal name from Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt to simply Maddox Chivan Jolie. The court’s records noted that the petition was granted without objections, and the order was signed and filed, with Maddox attending the hearing remotely.

This name change has been in the works for several months. Earlier this year, while working as an assistant director on his mother Angelina Jolie’s film ‘Couture,’ Maddox was credited simply as Maddox Jolie, a departure from his previous credit as ‘Maddox Jolie-Pitt’ on 2024’s ‘Maria.’ He formally submitted the name-change petition to the court on May 28, citing personal reasons.

Maddox isn’t the first of Jolie and Pitt’s six children to make this change. His younger sister Shiloh filed her own petition on her 18th birthday, officially becoming Shiloh Jolie rather than Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, a decision her attorney stated was linked to “painful events” in her life. Zahara has also introduced herself using only the Jolie name while joining her sorority at Spelman College, and Vivienne has appeared in at least one Playbill credited simply as Vivienne Jolie.

Among Jolie and Pitt’s six children, only Pax and Vivienne’s twin brother Knox have publicly retained the Pitt surname so far. This pattern reflects the broader strains that have characterized Pitt’s relationship with several of his children since his 2016 divorce from Jolie, a split that initiated years of legal battles over custody and the couple’s French vineyard, Château Miraval.

Pitt and Jolie officially reached a divorce settlement in January 2025, concluding a legal saga that spanned nearly a decade. Nevertheless, the family dynamics continue to emerge publicly, with Maddox’s name change making headlines the same week Pitt was promoting his latest film alongside de Ramon.

Whether intentional or coincidental, this dual focus highlights the current state of Pitt’s public life: a high-profile relationship progressing steadily on the red carpet, juxtaposed with a family narrative that is still seeking resolution behind the scenes.
