Diego Luna Says ‘Andor’ Season 2 Will Change How Fans Watch Rogue One

Andor season 2 is almost here, and according to Diego Luna, it will completely change how fans see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Luna, who plays Cassian Andor, says that watching Rogue One after finishing Andor season 2 made the movie feel much deeper and more emotional for him.
In an interview, Luna explained how much the story of Andor has added to his understanding of Cassian’s journey.
“I watched Rogue One before starting season 1, before starting season 2, and recently I watched it again,” Luna said. “I do think it’s just going to make Rogue One even more deep and more dramatic because now you understand what these characters are leaving behind.“
Season 2 picks up a year after the end of season 1 and will cover four years of Cassian’s life, leading right up to the events of Rogue One. For Luna, those extra layers of backstory make Cassian’s decisions in Rogue One more powerful.
“Now you understand what Cassian means when he gives that speech about doing terrible things for the rebellion and leaving everything behind,” Luna said. “I was seeing Rogue One and I was thinking of Maarva [Andor, Cassian’s mom] from season one, thinking of all these friends and connections and love stories that now we get to see in these two seasons and all the events that needed to happen for that ultimate sacrifice – and all the lives lost in a revolution.“
One part of the story that becomes even more important in season 2 is Cassian’s relationship with Bix Caleen, played by Adria Arjona.
“One of the most important elements of this last season is the connection and relation between Cassian and Bix,” Luna said. “That magnifies everything, every step of Rogue One becomes different because of this relation I think.“
Andor season 2 premieres on Disney+ on April 22 in the US and April 23 in the UK with the first three episodes dropping at once. Luna promises it will add even more meaning to the story fans already love.
