The concluding episode of The Boys will not be transformed into a lengthy movie-style finale, and showrunner Eric Kripke has shared the reasons behind this choice. As reported by Collider, the creative team made an early decision to avoid extending the final episode into a longer runtime.

Kripke mentioned that the finale will be approximately 65 minutes long, rather than extending it to 90 minutes or more. He stated, “It’s not. It’s like an hour and five. We’re not doing that huge, super-sized 90-minute thing.” He believes that keeping the episode concise helps maintain focus and prevents the narrative from feeling stretched.

He also noted that a longer episode could have slowed the pacing significantly. As he expressed, “I think the audience might have ended up getting bored had we gone that long.” The aim is to keep the pacing sharp and deliver a more intense and direct conclusion to the series.

The final season will still feature major characters like Billy Butcher, portrayed by Karl Urban, and Homelander, played by Antony Starr, as their long-standing conflict reaches its climax. Fans can also anticipate a large ensemble of returning characters as the story concludes its main arc.

While the main series is concluding, the universe of The Boys continues to expand. A new spin-off, The Boys: Mexico, is currently in development, furthering the story in a fresh setting following the events of the final season.

As reported by Collider, Kripke’s insights emphasize that the finale will focus on delivering a compelling conclusion rather than relying on its length or runtime.
