Hayley Atwell Teases Captain Carter’s Future: “There’s So Much More That Peggy Can Do”

Hayley Atwell, known for her role as Peggy Carter in the MCU, recently shared her hopes for the character’s future. In an interview, Atwell expressed her desire to explore more of Captain Carter’s story in the upcoming Avengers films.

“I would love that,” Atwell said when asked if she’d like to reprise the role in future Avengers movies. “There are so many things that she could do. There’s so much more I feel I can bring to a character because I’ve developed as time’s gone on. What’s so great about having time behind you and having had a 20-year career so far is the development of skill, and I think there’s so much more that Peggy can do. She’s very much an underserved character.”

Atwell pointed out that, in many versions of Peggy’s story, there is a recurring theme of being overlooked. As a woman working in Allied intelligence during World War II, Peggy often had to fight for recognition.

Atwell referenced a line from Agent Carter, where Peggy says, “I know my value, and everyone else’s opinion doesn’t really matter.” This line highlights how Peggy knows her worth, despite not always being given the platform she deserves.

Atwell believes that Captain Carter could resonate with modern audiences if given more screen time. “To take her to that next level as Captain Carter would be phenomenal. Especially with all my Mission: Impossible training. I am ready, let’s go!” she said, referring to her recent action-heavy role in Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

With the MCU exploring the multiverse and bringing back characters from alternate timelines, it definitely makes sense that Hayley Atwell is already confirmed to have a role in Avengers: Doomsday & Secret Wars.
