Marvel’s Multiverse Saga is racing toward its conclusion, and fans have been buzzing about what lies ahead after ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ With this film set to be the climax of years of interconnected storytelling, speculation about whether Marvel Studios will completely reset its narrative has intensified.

Kevin Feige has addressed this very question, providing one of the clearest insights into the studio’s long-term vision. In a conversation with Josh Horowitz on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, alongside ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ executive producer Amy Pascal, Feige was directly asked about the MCU’s future post-‘Secret Wars’ and whether the film signifies a full reboot.

His response was a definitive no. Feige shared that he consistently turns to the comics for storytelling inspiration, noting that after both iterations of the ‘Secret Wars’ comic storylines—especially Jonathan Hickman’s 2015 miniseries—there exists a solid roadmap for Marvel’s next steps, as he conveyed to Horowitz.

This specific reference holds significant meaning for longtime comic fans. Hickman’s original ‘Secret Wars’ concluded with the Marvel multiverse being restored and rebuilt, paving the way for a multitude of new worlds and narratives to explore, rather than shutting things down. Feige’s mention of this comic suggests that Marvel’s cinematic adaptation may follow a similar structural trajectory, focusing on expansion rather than erasure of past storylines.

One of the most discussed aspects of Hickman’s comic was the introduction of Miles Morales, who transitioned from the Ultimate universe into the mainstream Marvel universe as part of the rebuilding narrative. With Miles yet to make his live-action MCU debut, Feige’s remarks have sparked fan speculation that a similar cross-universe approach could eventually usher him or other multiversal variants of familiar characters into the MCU following ‘Secret Wars.’

The timing of these comments aligns with Marvel’s broader post-Endgame strategy for its next chapter. Feige has previously described ‘Avengers: Endgame’ as a film about endings, while framing ‘Secret Wars’ as fundamentally about beginnings, reinforcing his assertion that audiences should not anticipate a hard reboot when the film premieres in 2027.

This expansion strategy also connects to Marvel’s confirmed plans to integrate the X-Men and Fantastic Four into the shared universe. Feige has indicated that fans will see X-Men characters appearing in Marvel’s upcoming films even before ‘Secret Wars’ arrives, positioning mutants as a central element of the studio’s future alongside the newly introduced First Family.

During the same discussion, Feige reiterated that ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ remains on schedule for its planned release and dismissed rumors suggesting that ‘Secret Wars’ might be divided into two separate films, addressing two points of speculation that had been circulating among fans recently.

With ‘Doomsday’ still months away and ‘Secret Wars’ set for 2027, Marvel seems to be relying on one of its most celebrated comic runs to navigate a course that continues to expand the universe rather than starting anew.
