Kevin Sorbo, known for portraying one of television’s most iconic mythological heroes, has been vocal about his decision to leave California nearly seven years ago for Florida. The star of ‘Hercules: The Legendary Journeys’ has firmly stated that he has no intention of returning to his former home state.

This choice was not made lightly, and Sorbo has taken time to reflect on the factors that led him to move his family and career across the country. His recent comments come as he promotes his latest project, providing insight into how well he has adapted to life away from Hollywood.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Sorbo explained his reasons for not returning to California, citing three main grievances. He stated, “But yeah, there are things I miss, but they can keep their taxes, they can keep their traffic, and they can keep their negativity, I’m done.”

While Sorbo acknowledged that he misses certain aspects of his previous life, including Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, his old golf course, and California’s pleasant climate, he emphasized that the benefits of living in Florida outweigh the nostalgia. He described Florida’s humid summers as manageable, especially with its remarkable winters.

Beyond practical concerns like taxes and traffic, Sorbo highlighted a deeper reason for his decision to remain in Florida: a sense of acceptance that he felt was diminishing in California. He noted that the independent film community has welcomed him in ways he did not always experience in mainstream Hollywood, with filmmakers and creators reaching out to him through his production company, Sorbo Studios.

The connections he has formed since relocating have been invaluable to both his personal and professional life. Sorbo has previously expressed feeling marginalized by the entertainment industry due to his political and religious beliefs, and this latest discussion continued that theme.

He specifically criticized Hollywood’s perceived intolerance for differing perspectives, arguing that the industry often treats diverse opinions as a liability rather than a strength.

Sorbo’s remarks come as his new film, ‘Elijah Peel,’ a faith-based drama inspired by a true story, is released in theaters. The film tells the story of a rock star whose life spirals out of control due to addiction following a near-fatal heart attack, with Sorbo portraying the musician’s longtime talent manager. Willie and Korie Robertson from ‘Duck Dynasty’ serve as executive producers, further connecting the film to the faith-based entertainment sector.

Sorbo believes that projects like ‘Elijah Peel’ demonstrate that faith-based filmmakers can find audiences without needing traditional Hollywood’s endorsement, pointing to a growing viewer base eager for such content. For an actor who spent decades as one of television’s most recognizable action heroes, Sorbo’s current path indicates he has found a creative home outside the conventional industry boundaries, and he appears to be at peace with this transition.
