Mackenzie Shirilla, currently incarcerated in Ohio, has reached out to Kim Kardashian for assistance regarding her legal situation. This request was made during a recorded phone call from the Cuyahoga County Corrections Center, which was later obtained and reviewed by PEOPLE.

During the call, Shirilla expressed her desire for Kardashian to become involved in her case, even suggesting that she wanted Kardashian to serve as her lawyer. However, sources close to Kardashian, speaking to TMZ, indicate that this request is unlikely to progress.

According to the source, Kardashian’s legal advocacy is focused on specific case types. She has been actively involved in criminal justice reform, particularly in cases where individuals may have been wrongfully convicted or where there is significant support for rehabilitation and a second chance. This particular situation does not align with her advocacy focus.

The source told TMZ that “Kim advocates for criminal justice reform by supporting individuals she believes were wrongfully convicted, as well as people within the prison system who have demonstrated rehabilitation and deserve a fair second chance. This case does not fall within her focus.”

Mackenzie Shirilla gained notoriety after her conviction in 2023 for murder, aggravated vehicular homicide, and other charges related to a fatal crash in 2022 in Strongsville, Ohio. The incident resulted in the deaths of her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and her friend, Davion Flanagan.

Court findings revealed that Shirilla was driving at an excessive speed during the crash, with prosecutors arguing that her actions were intentional. Evidence from the investigation and vehicle data was presented in court to support the charges, leading to her conviction by a jury.

The case has been a topic of extensive discussion online and in the media, particularly after a Netflix documentary titled “The Crash.” This program featured interviews with Shirilla, her family, and individuals connected to the victims, reigniting public interest in the case.

Since her conviction, Shirilla has remained in prison, continuing to attract public attention due to the serious nature of the crash and ongoing debates surrounding intent and accountability in her case. Her recent appeal for Kim Kardashian’s involvement adds another dimension to the discussion, although there is no indication that Kardashian intends to engage.

As of now, according to reports from TMZ, the request has been firmly declined through Kardashian’s representatives, and there are no expectations for further developments.
