Lewis Pullman is currently riding a wave of fame with the release of the MCU’s Thunderbolts*. After Steven Yeun turned down the role of Sentry, Pullman stepped in to portray the character in live action.

His performance as Marvel’s most powerful “hero” is earning praise, and fans can expect him to reprise the role in Avengers: Doomsday. Pullman’s return has already been confirmed, with the director hinting that his character will play a more significant role in the film.

Interestingly, before becoming one of the most talked-about new faces in the superhero world, Pullman had his sights set on a different role. The actor auditioned for a role in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe in Kraven the Hunter.

Pullman was asked whether he auditioned for other Marvel movies, and Spider-Man was mentioned. Pullman said that he doesn’t remember Spider-Man but he did mention Kraven the Hunter.

I don’t think I ever went in for Spider-Man. Um, but I did, you know, you audition for all sorts of little things. I think I auditioned for something in Kraven, and for you know, a couple, maybe one other thing. Smaller roles”

Pullman did not elaborate on what his potential role in Kraven the Hunter would have been. However, considering the film’s poor performance, he’s relieved not to be carrying that baggage now.

Kraven the Hunter did not do well at the box office. It made $25 million in the United States and Canada, and $37 million in other countries, totaling $62 million worldwide. However, the movie lost the studio about $71 million when all costs and revenues were considered.

Critics response was also abysmal and the word on the street was that Kraven the Hunter was the final nail in the coffin when it comes to the SSU movies.
