Megan Thee Stallion Films Iconic Beach Run for Fox’s ‘Baywatch’ Reboot
Megan Thee Stallion is reviving one of television’s most iconic moments.
The rapper and actress was spotted filming scenes for Fox’s upcoming ‘Baywatch’ reboot on June 5 in Long Beach, California. During the shoot, Megan was photographed running along the beach, recreating the famous slow-motion lifeguard run that contributed to the original series’ global success.
The images capture Megan leading a group of lifeguards down the shoreline while carrying the classic red rescue float synonymous with ‘Baywatch’. This scene seems to pay homage to one of the most memorable aspects of the original show.
For the filming, Megan donned an orange patterned bikini paired with matching accessories. Other cast members were dressed in the franchise’s traditional red lifeguard uniforms as production continued on the beach.
The new ‘Baywatch’ series is being developed by Fox and Fremantle, aiming to introduce the franchise to a new audience while honoring key moments from the original show. Based on the latest set photos, it appears producers are dedicated to preserving some of the series’ most iconic visuals.
The ‘Baywatch’ franchise is one of the most successful television brands ever created. The original series became a cultural phenomenon in the 1990s, turning many of its stars into international icons. Its blend of beach rescues, action, drama, and unforgettable slow-motion running scenes has become part of pop culture history.
The journey to the reboot has been years in the making. According to Deadline Hollywood, discussions about reviving ‘Baywatch’ began as early as 2018 when FremantleMedia International explored the possibility. In 2023, Fremantle officially started developing a new version of the series and engaged in early talks with broadcasters and streaming platforms.
A significant milestone was reached in March 2024 when Fox Entertainment and Fremantle announced their collaboration on the reboot. At that time, Lara Olsen was confirmed as the writer and showrunner.
Fox officially ordered the series in September 2025, granting it a 12-episode order expected to be part of the network’s 2026-27 television season. Filming has been taking place across Southern California, backed by a California tax credit program that provided over $21 million in incentives.
The cast features a mix of new faces and familiar names from ‘Baywatch’ history. Earlier this year, Stephen Amell joined the project as an adult version of Hobie Buchannon, the son of legendary lifeguard Mitch Buchannon. David Chokachi is also set to return as Cody Madison, reprising his role from the original series.
Additional cast members include Jessica Belkin, Thaddeus LaGrone, Hassie Harrison, Brooks Nader, Noah Beck, Shay Mitchell, and Livvy Dunne. Fox has also brought back original ‘Baywatch’ stars Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin, Kelly Packard, and Mary McDonnell in various roles.
As filming progresses and new set photos emerge, Megan Thee Stallion’s recreation of the iconic beach run provides one of the clearest glimpses yet at how the reboot intends to blend nostalgia with a modern cast. For longtime fans, it evokes a familiar image, while for newer viewers, it may serve as their first introduction to one of television’s most famous scenes.
