Director Nathan Greno shared insights about the film’s world with Netflix Tudum, stating, “In this world, the creatures of the valley exist on a spectrum between plant and animal, creating a wild ecosystem. At the center of the film is the smallest creature in the valley, voiced by Michael B. Jordan, who suddenly finds himself swapped into a completely different body.”
The plot also features a twist where the main character teams up with another swapped character, voiced by Juno Temple. Their predicament leads them into peril, but it also fosters an unexpected friendship as they navigate their challenges together.
The film employs a body-swap concept reminiscent of ‘Freaky Friday,’ but places it within a fantastical realm populated by animals rather than humans. This unique setting adds a fresh perspective while maintaining a focus on comedy, adventure, and character development.
Alongside Jordan and Temple, the voice cast includes Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, Justina Machado, Ambika Mod, and Lolly Adefope. The screenplay is penned by John Whittington, Christian Magalhaes, and Robert Snow, with Nathan Greno at the helm as director.
‘Swapped’ is being marketed as a family-friendly film designed to appeal to both younger audiences and adults. The combination of a star-studded cast and an unconventional storyline is already generating excitement ahead of its release.
The newly released exclusive clip offers audiences their first glimpse of the animation style and Jordan’s character in action.
This marks an intriguing shift for Michael B. Jordan, and it will be fascinating to see how his voice performance translates in animation. It is indeed a bold move for him to explore such a different genre. What are your thoughts on this role change? Share your opinions in the comments.
