New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Promo Art Reveals Kelsey Grammer’s Beast Comic-Accurate Look
Marvel’s mutant heroes have undergone numerous visual transformations on screen, adapting through two decades of X-Men films before finally integrating into the main MCU timeline. Few characters exemplify this evolution as clearly as Hank McCoy, whose Beast persona has been reinterpreted multiple times since Kelsey Grammer first portrayed him in 2006.
This transformation continued after Grammer’s brief yet memorable return as Beast during the post-credits scene of ‘The Marvels,’ where he appeared in a lab coat and glasses instead of showcasing his more feral superhero side. Fans have been eager to see how the character will be reintroduced in his next significant MCU appearance.
Fresh promotional artwork for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has now addressed that curiosity, highlighting a notably revamped version of Beast that aligns much more closely with his classic comic book design. The new look completely removes the lab coat, instead emphasizing Hank McCoy’s large, fur-covered physique, reinforcing his superhero identity over his scientist background.
This redesign marks a significant shift from how audiences first encountered Grammer’s Beast in the MCU. According to ComicBasics, the character’s new appearance was unveiled through concept art shared by former Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park, providing fans with one of their clearest glimpses of how Beast will fit into the larger ensemble cast.
The move toward a more comic-accurate design aligns with a broader trend seen throughout the film’s marketing campaign, which has consistently favored classic, source-material-inspired looks for its returning X-Men characters. Gambit has also received a more comic-faithful redesign for the film, indicating that Marvel is intentionally tapping into nostalgia for longtime comic readers as it reintroduces these legacy mutants.
Beast’s role in the ensemble signifies a substantial upgrade in screen time compared to his fleeting cameo. While ‘The Marvels’ provided only a brief glimpse of the character within an X-Men research facility, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is anticipated to give Grammer a significant role within the film’s extensive main roster.
Beast joins a vast cast list for ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ which unites heroes and villains from the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the X-Men. According to ComicBookMovie, the film’s confirmed roster includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Robert Downey Jr., along with newcomers such as Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Lewis Pullman.
Completing the ensemble are ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, alongside returning X-Men franchise veterans including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden, in addition to Grammer. This extensive cast list continues to expand with each new wave of promotional material.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from a script by Stephen McFeely, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to hit theaters and IMAX across the United States on December 18. Its sequel, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ is currently slated for release on December 17, 2027, continuing this significant chapter of Marvel Studios’ Multiverse Saga.
With Beast’s redesign now confirmed and the film’s promotional rollout showing no signs of slowing, fans can expect even more character reveals as the December release date approaches.
