‘One Piece’ has been a powerhouse in Japan’s manga scene for nearly three decades, and 2026 is no exception as the franchise gears up for its thirtieth anniversary next year. With the ongoing manga’s impressive sales, the anime’s adaptation of the Elbaf Arc, and the second season of Netflix’s live-action series, Eiichiro Oda’s creation remains a significant cultural phenomenon throughout the year.

This momentum translated into remarkable print sales, with Volume 115 achieving impressive numbers right after its release on July 3. The volume quickly outpaced its nearest rivals, continuing a trend that has characterized much of 2026 for the franchise, as it consistently leads both weekly and monthly sales charts across Japan.

Oricon has confirmed the extent of this dominance by releasing its full July 2026 rankings, which cover sales data from June 29 through August 2. According to the results, ‘One Piece’ emerged as the best-selling manga of the month, selling a total of 1,437,565 copies, solidifying its position as the clear sales leader for this period.

In second place was ‘Hunter x Hunter,’ which sold 1,022,577 copies during the same timeframe. This strong performance is particularly impressive for Yoshihiro Togashi’s long-running series, especially since it recently returned to serialization after a lengthy hiatus, with its Volume 39 release also occurring during the tracked period.

Beyond these two heavyweights, Oricon’s July top twenty showcased a diverse mix of both established hits and newer titles. ‘The Apothecary Diaries’ secured third place with 325,292 copies sold, followed by ‘Daemons of the Shadow Realm’ in fourth with 291,059 copies, and ‘Blue Lock’ completing the top five with 240,576 copies.

Familiar Shonen Jump favorites like ‘One-Punch Man,’ ‘Jujutsu Kaisen,’ and ‘Chainsaw Man’ also made appearances on the list, alongside titles such as ‘Space Brothers,’ ‘Blue Box,’ and ‘Kingdom.’ The inclusion of series like ‘Chiikawa’ and ‘Haikyu!!’ highlights the broad spectrum of manga’s monthly sales landscape, even with ‘One Piece’ and ‘Hunter x Hunter’ dominating the top two positions.

While ‘One Piece’ claimed the overall monthly title, its weekly performance varied throughout July. Oricon’s week-by-week data indicated that the title led weekly charts for three consecutive weeks following the release of Volume 115, before eventually yielding the top spot to other titles as sales naturally declined later in the month. This pattern of an initial sales spike followed by a gradual decrease is typical for major manga releases, making ‘One Piece’ securing the overall monthly title even more impressive.

As the franchise continues to expand across manga, anime, and live-action adaptations, ‘One Piece’ shows no signs of slowing down as it approaches its milestone anniversary next year. With Togashi’s strong performance with ‘Hunter x Hunter’ this month as well, the competition between these two franchises at the top of Japan’s manga charts is set to remain one of the most intriguing storylines in the industry moving forward.
