Rick and Morty is back with Season 9, and fans won’t have to wait long for new episodes. The beloved animated series returns with its signature blend of chaotic sci-fi adventures, dark humor, and bizarre storylines.

The season kicks off with a bold declaration, stating, “Season Nine is all certified bangers.” The announcement humorously adds, “No AI slop! Just Grade A organic slop, made by real humans with real human traits like back hair and cysts. Please watch, or we’ll have neglected our families for nothing.”

The new season officially premiered on Sunday, May 24 at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Adult Swim. This marks the start of Season 9, launching another weekly adventure for Rick and Morty fans.

Following the premiere, the show will continue with a weekly release schedule. New episodes will air every Sunday night on Adult Swim, ensuring fans enjoy a consistent rollout of episodes throughout the summer.

  1. Season 9 Episode 1 – May 24
  2. Season 9 Episode 2 – May 31
  3. Season 9 Episode 3 – June 7
  4. Season 9 Episode 4 – June 14
  5. Season 9 Episode 5 – June 21
  6. Season 9 Episode 6 – June 28
  7. Season 9 Episode 7 – July 5
  8. Season 9 Episode 8 -July 12
  9. Season 9 Episode 9 – July 19
  10. Season 9 Episode 10 – July 26

Season 9 will consist of a total of 10 episodes, running through the summer and culminating in the finale on July 26. This structure follows the show’s traditional mid-year release cycle, providing viewers with a steady stream of new content.

For those who don’t have cable or access to Adult Swim, there are streaming options available. New episodes will be accessible on HBO Max and Hulu starting June 15, allowing streaming audiences to catch up shortly after episodes air on television.

This new streaming release timing is quicker than in previous seasons. Instead of enduring long waits after episodes air, fans can now watch them online within the same season window.

Showrunner Scott Marder previously discussed this delay and the team’s desire to minimize it. He mentioned, “I don’t know how it fell into that distribution model. We are constantly trying to shrink that window. It might shrink to three months this year. I could be wrong. I don’t see the benefit of it. Most shows are on streamers the next day or even that same day.”

The aim of this change is straightforward: the creators want fans to have faster access to new episodes without lengthy delays between TV and streaming releases. This aligns with how modern audiences typically consume shows online and their expectations for quicker availability.

Overall, Rick and Morty Season 9 follows a familiar yet fan-friendly release pattern. It begins with a late-night premiere on Adult Swim, continues with weekly episodes every Sunday, and concludes with a 10-episode season finale at the end of July. Streaming viewers will also be accommodated, with HBO Max and Hulu providing access starting in mid-June.

The new season maintains the show’s trademark mix of absurd humor, sci-fi chaos, and unpredictable storytelling, while also enhancing how quickly fans can enjoy it across various platforms.
